Jesus Was Born To Bring Life To Humanity – General Secretary

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has affirmed that Jesus Christ, the Word of God, was born to bring life that is satisfying to humanity.

Life, he said, is the most important asset of humanity, hence the most important asset of humanity is found in Christ.

Apostle Obuobi said this in a sermon at the Community 20 District Christmas convention in the Teshie-Nungua Area of The Church of Pentecost on Saturday, December 23, 2023.

The convention held at the F. D. Walker Temple located at Cambodia, Community 20, was under the theme, “He came to set the captives free” – Luke 4:18-19. Present at the service were the Teshie-Nungua Area Head, Apostle Wilberforce Nkrumah Agyeman; the wife of the General Secretary, Mrs Korkor Obuobi, and the Community 20 District Minister, Pastor Justice Appiah Afful, among others.

Speaking on the topic, “Born To Give Life” – John 1:1-4, the General Secretary revealed that the Word of God is not just sounds and symbols, but a personality called Jesus Christ, with John introducing him as God and divine.

Highlighting the two things about the Word, he said it has creative powers and life.

He revealed that the Word has the capacity and the power to create, recounting the creation story in Genesis 1:3-4, Colossians 1:15-17 where God through his Word called things that were not there into being. Citing John 1:3, Apostle Obuobi said that inherent in the Word of God is the power to create. He prayed that the creative power of God be made manifest in the lives of the people.

Quoting Hebrews 1:1-3, he indicated that not only does the Word of God create, but it has the power to sustain all things. He, therefore, encouraged believers not to be afraid of the uncertainties of the ensuing year, because the power of the Word will sustain them.

The General Secretary further explained that Jesus, who is the Word of God, became flesh (allowed himself to be conceived by a woman and born into the world) – John 1:14, Revelation 19:12-14, so he could share the life in him with the world.

According to him, the very moment one accepts Christ, that person shares in this new life, saying, “As a believer, you are a carrier of life, so you are not an ordinary person.”

He challenged Christians to let the life in them touch other people (John 7:38) to transform others to make the world a better place for all.

He indicated that Jesus Christ may not physically be present with us, his word is with us and is still active – John 6:63.

Be A Blessing Unto Others – Apostle Samuel Obuobi Advises Christians

Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, the General Secretary of The Church Of Pentecost, has advised Christians to not only keep the blessing they have they have received from God to themselves, but more importantly, bless others as well.

This, according to him, is the only way they can make a proud impact on their generation.

Apostle Obuobi said this on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at the Pentecost International Convention Centre (PIWC), Asokwa.

Speaking on the theme: “Maximum Impact”, he began by quoting Kevin Kruse, stating, “Life is about making an impact, not making an income.” He challenged the conventional notion that life is solely about financial success, emphasizing the significance of making a positive impact on the lives of others.

Drawing parallels with the life of Abraham, Apostle Obuobi highlighted God’s objective to bless the entire world through Abraham, as mentioned in Genesis 12:3. He stressed that blessings from God, whether in the form of gifts, knowledge, or talents, are meant not only for personal gain but also to benefit others.

Apostle Obuobi quoted an unknown author, affirming that “Success is not measured in the amount of dollars you make, but the ‘amount’ of lives you impact.” He urged the congregation to recognize that success goes beyond monetary wealth, focusing on the transformative impact individuals can have on the lives of others.

Emphasising the role of the Holy Spirit, Apostle Obuobi explained that believers are empowered to make a difference in the world.

“The agenda of the Holy Ghost is to help us make it to Heaven. Not only is He to help us make it to Heaven, but more so, help us come to a point to make an impact”, he stressed.

He underscored the divine purpose for Christians to impact their generation positively and encouraged them to use the gifts and talents bestowed upon them by God.

The sermon conveyed a call to action, urging believers to leave an indelible mark, bring transformation to their spheres of influence, and positively influence their generation.

The General Secretary reminded Christians of life’s brevity and the importance of making an impact during the time they are alive.

Citing the example of Jesus, who lived only 33 years but profoundly influenced the world, Apostle Obuobi stressed the need for sacrifice to make a lasting impact. He cited Philippians 2:6-8 as an example of the sacrifice Jesus made for humanity.

Concluding, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi challenged Christians to become “salt and light” in the world, emphasizing that the ability to make an impact is directly proportional to the sacrifices one is willing to make.

“Your ability to make an impact depends on the level of sacrifice you make”, he said.

Work Is Part Of God’s Plan For Humanity – Apostle Gyau Obuobi

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has hinted that work, as tedious as it may seem, is part of God’s plan for humanity and is never a product of sin.

He highlighted the divine origin of work, stressing that it was God’s plan for humanity, rooted in the Scriptures, thus Genesis 2:15, when man was placed in the garden of Eden to work and care for it.

He, therefore, asserted that work is not a consequence of sin but an integral part of life, a concept established at the beginning of creation.

Apostle Obuobi made this remark during a presentation on “Workplace Ethics” at the 2023 Headquarters Staff and Management Retreat underway at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, near Kasoa.

Citing biblical examples like Apostle Paul, who worked tirelessly day and night (1 Thessalonians 2:9), Apostle Obuobi conveyed that work is a timeless principle. He mentioned that 2 Thessalonians 3:7-12 illustrates the value of diligence, stating that work is not a punishment but a creation concept.

He explained the importance of workplace values as prerequisites for organisational success, saying, “Values are the guiding principles deemed paramount at work. These values, both personal and organisational, form the foundation for decision-making, enjoyment of life, and overall success within any institution.”

The General Secretary mentioned some key workplace values as excellence, diligence, integrity, accountability, team spirit, loyalty, confidentiality, and hard work.

He asserted that excellence must be a lifestyle, emphasising its pursuit in every aspect of life.

He defined diligence as working carefully and with much effort, a virtue preventing slothfulness.

Apostle Obuobi concluded with a passionate call not to compromise on these foundational values, emphasising that great institutions are built on great values.

Develop An Attitude Of Thanksgiving – General Secretary Tells Christians

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has urged Christians to cultivate a continual attitude of thanksgiving and to always approach God with a heart of gratitude.

In his exhortation at the maiden Annual Thanksgiving Service of FeDems Group at the East Legon Worship Centre, Apostle Obuobi referenced Psalm 100:4-5, stressing that believers should approach God with a spirit of gratitude every time.

“The password to coming to the presence of God is ‘Thank You,'” he said, adding: “So always approach God with thanksgiving and praise and nothing else”

The General Secretary further stated that the Lord is pleased when His children come before Him with thanksgiving, drawing parallels to the biblical story of the lepers where only one returned with a heart of gratitude.

Alluding to the leper’s story, he explained that God expects them to offer gratitude to Him for His goodness and is pleased when they do that.

“Do not take God’s goodness for granted. We often complain and focus on challenges instead of being grateful,” Apostle Obuobi remarked.

He encouraged believers to reflect on the good things God has done, stressing that challenges are inevitable but thanksgiving transforms perspectives.

“Whether the challenge is big or small, take a minute to count your blessings, and you will realise that your blessings far outweigh your challenges,” he urged.

Apostle Obuobi said that God’s enduring goodness, love (mercies), and faithfulness throughout generations are reasons for them to be perpetually grateful to Him.

Jesus Christ Is The Only Savior Of The World web

Jesus Christ Is The Only Savior Of The World – Apostle Samuel Obuobi

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has emphasised that Jesus is the only one with the power and capacity to save humanity.

“When we declare Jesus as the Saviour, we mean He is the only one. There is no other!” Apostle Samuel Gyau proclaimed during a gospel message titled “Jesus Christ, The Only Saviour of the World,” shared at a Sunday Service at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Downtown-Ofaakor, yesterday.

Drawing from foundational texts, John 4:39-43 and Acts 2:23-24, he asserted that, from the beginning, God revealed Jesus as the Saviour.

Quoting 1 Timothy 1:15, he emphasised that Jesus’ sole purpose for coming into the world was to bring redemption to humanity following the disobedience of the first humans.

“It is an undeniable and undebatable fact that Jesus came into this world with a purpose, and that is to save sinners,” he asserted, adding, “Jesus did not come into the world to condemn it but to bring salvation to men.”

Referring to various scripture references, including Luke 4, which gives an account of the testimony of the people of Samaria about Jesus, the General Secretary affirmed that Jesus is indeed the Saviour of the world.

Apostle Obuobi explained that after the fall, humanity was plunged into sin and became enslaved by it. He noted that another consequence of the fall was death, both spiritual and physical, leading to humanity living in constant fear of death.

For these reasons, he further noted, the world needed a Saviour, and God provided it in His Son, Jesus Christ.

“Jesus is the only one who has the power and the capacity save mankind from sin,” he said.

He explained that one proof of this assertion is Jesus’ deity, asserting that “Jesus is God.”

Citing John 8:23, among other Bible verses, he asserted that Jesus was no ordinary man, but that He came from above to earth to serve God’s purpose.

The General Secretary further noted that Jesus, by virtue of His deity, is the only one who has the power to redeem humankind from sin, the slavery of sin, and death.

He stated that Jesus raised many from death to show His power over death, adding: “Jesus’ death and resurrection were proof to all that He had overcome death,” he further noted.

Another proof of Jesus’ status as the only Saviour of the world, Apostle Obuobi alluded to, was His virgin birth.

According to him, Jesus was not contaminated by the fallen state of mankind because He was conceived by God Himself through His Spirit.

“Jesus does not have any seed of sin in Him. Every man born of a woman has sinned except Jesus, who did not have a seed of man in Him,” he explained.

Apostle Obuobi said that Jesus, thus, shed His blood and died to pay for the wages of sin, which is death, so that humanity can be completely saved.

“We were candidates of hell, but Jesus stepped into the scene to take our place, to take the punishment from us. He delivered us from the shackles of sin and death, and also saved us from our sicknesses,” he said.

Concluding his message, Apostle Obuobi assured that Jesus still saves lives and that anyone who accepts Him as Lord and personal Saviour will be saved and completely redeemed from sin and death.

He also urged individuals who have accepted Jesus into their lives not to entertain any kind of sin, saying, “Jesus has saved us from sin, not in sin.”

God's Ultimate Goal For Christians Is To Be Like Jesus web

God’s Ultimate Goal For Christians Is To Be Like Jesus – Apostle Obuobi Asserts

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has asserted that God’s ultimate goal for humanity is to become like Jesus Christ, his Son, to transform their spheres in this crooked world.

Apostle Obuobi noted that Christ-like believers are the only people who can transform their spheres of influence with the values and principles of God’s Kingdom.

This, he said, places a huge responsibility on the church to raise people who exude the virtues of Christ-likeness as part of its commitment to possess the nations for Christ.

The General Secretary said this in a presentation on Thursday titled, “Raising Christ-Like Believers To Transform Their Spheres,” at the Heads Prayer Meeting at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh.

He pointed out that, as disciples of Christ, it is expected of them to reflect Jesus’ life and ministry in the world because they have the responsibility to model his life and nature in their spheres of influence, having been loved and chosen by God to reflect his image on earth – 1 John 3:2, Romans 8:29.

Citing 2 Corinthians 2:18 and Galatians 4:19, Apostle Obuobi explained that Christlikeness is for a person to be transformed into Christ’s image and have Christ fully formed in them. He also described Christlikeness as the transformation of a person into the image of Christ and the complete formation of Christ within them.

Touching on the kind of life Jesus led on earth, the General Secretary indicated that as believers assume Christ-like character in this perverse world, they must closely examine and comprehend how Jesus lived during his time on earth, saying, “This is because this is the kind of life we are supposed to demonstrate on earth.”

Just as Jesus lived a godly life and demonstrated power throughout his earthly life, he implored believers to be blameless in all their endeavours and be prayerful to receive more power to do greater works.

Apostle Samuel Obuobu identified love for others, humility, showing forgiveness, the ability to sacrifice, and spreading the good news as some of the characteristics that Christ-like believers ought to cultivate.

Ground Your Prayers On The Word Of God – Apostle Gyau Obuobi Advises Believers

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has underscored the significance of anchoring prayers on the word of God.

Apostle Obuobi said this during the monthly prayer event dubbed ‘Face-to-Face With God’ organised by the Kasoa Area of The Church of Pentecost on Monday, October 30, 2023.

The gathering brought thousands of members, officers, ministers and non-members of the church to the Odupong Kpehe Park in Kasoa.

Speaking on the topic, “Grace, Mercy, and Peace,” Apostle Obuobi delved into God’s mercy and grace, highlighting God’s self-proclamation to Moses in Exodus 34:6: “A God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.”

He stressed the need for grace in the lives of believers, defining it in two ways. Firstly, he said, grace is an “undeserved favour,” where God blesses his people regardless of their worth or merit. He illustrated this point with the heartwarming story of David’s kindness to Mephibosheth in 2 Samuel 9, who considered himself a “dead dog” but was shown immense grace and favour.

The second aspect of grace he disclosed was that it is “the enabling power” that empowers individuals to overcome challenges.

Apostle Obuobi cited the transformation of the early disciples from their inability to heal to their miraculous acts in Acts 3, highlighting the divine enablement that grace brings.

He noted that grace has brought salvation, as stated in Titus 2:11, “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,” and Ephesians 2:8, “For by grace you have been saved through faith.”

Touching on mercy, Apostle Obuobi described it as God’s compassionate response to help those in distress. He said that God’s mercy offers forgiveness to sinners and assistance to the suffering, echoing the compassion of Jesus during his earthly ministry.

Highlighting the two essential aspects of God’s mercy, he said that God’s mercy never runs out, as evidenced by Ephesians 2:4, “But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much.” Secondly, he said God’s mercy is great, as proclaimed in 1 Peter 1:3, “According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again.”

Mercy, he noted, is closely tied to compassion. He shared instances from the life of Jesus, demonstrating his compassion through acts of healing, resurrection, and forgiveness.

Touching on “Peace,” he defined it as inner tranquillity for believers, with Jesus being the ultimate source of this peace.

Apostle Obuobi emphasised that Jesus not only possesses peace but is peace itself, bringing peace wherever he goes.

The General Secretary concluded his message by emphasising that the peace of God does not imply the absence of troubles but rather stems from the knowledge that God is in control and believers are victorious.

Quoting Philippians 4:7, he reminded believers that the peace of God surpasses all understanding, guarding their hearts and minds.

An altar call made by the Kasoa Area Head, Apostle James Asare, resulted in five souls being won for Christ.

The General Secretary was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Korkor Obuobi.

Mepe Chief Calls On The Church Of Pentecost To Facilitate Government Support

“The Church of Pentecost is a formidable force, and I know when you speak, the government listens. So, I am pleading with you to liaise with the government to help find a lasting solution to this dam spillage and its attendant issues,” the Mankrado of Mepe, Togbe Korsi Nego VI, has stated.

He said this on Monday during an interaction with the General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, and other senior officials of the church who paid a courtesy call on him at his palace at Mepe to commiserate with them, following the havoc caused by the Akosombo Dam spillage.

According to the chief, almost 16,000 community inhabitants have been affected by the floods, most of whom have been displaced and their sources of livelihood utterly destroyed.

Narrating how the incident happened, Togbe Korsi Nego disclosed that about two weeks ago, the Volta River Authority (VRA) opened the dam’s spillways, submerging the whole community. He blamed the VRA for not being proactive in managing the situation.

He alleged that instead of the VRA opening the spillways gradually, they waited till the dam became full before opening it, thereby compounding the effects on the people of the Lower Volta.

“The flooding has brought untold hardship to my people. We have lost our houses and livelihoods, and thousands are now homeless,” he said, adding, “We hope that this would be the last time this disaster is happening after the 1963 incident. We pray that the government and the VRA will take the necessary steps to address this menace.”

The Mamaga of Mepe, Adzo Sreku IV, praised The Church of Pentecost for its commitment to social services and national development. “We saw the contribution The Church of Pentecost made during the COVID, and I’m glad that the church has shown up to support our people,” Mamaga Adzo Sreku said.

On his part, the General Secretary of the church, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, said the Chairman of the church, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, the Executive Council, and the entire membership of the church were deeply concerned about the situation in Mepe and neighbouring communities.

Describing the situation as very critical, Apostle Obuobi was thankful to God for keeping the people safe in the melee.

“We are concerned about what is happening here. The whole situation is very critical. We pray that God will protect your people from further actions of the spillage,” he said. He added: “We have come to show love. We love you and are solidly behind you in these terrible times.”

On behalf of the Chairman, the General Secretary donated an undisclosed cash of money and bags of rice to the palace.

The Church Of Pentecost Supports Flood Victims At Mepe, Battor

The Church of Pentecost on Monday, October 23, 2023, presented huge relief items worth several thousands of Ghana cedis to support flood victims at Mepe and Battor and adjoining communities in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region affected by the spillage of the Akosombo Dam.

Led by the church’s Chairman, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, the General Secretary, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, and other senior ministers and officials, a truckload of relief items was presented to the displaced people.

The items included several bags of rice, gari, sachet water, sugar, mattresses, blankets, cooking oil, soaps, toilet rolls, mosquito nets, beverages, sanitary pads, and many more.

Addressing some victims at the Battor Central Assembly of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Nyamekye assured them of the church’s support in these difficult moments.

Describing the whole incident as a national disaster, Apostle Nyamekye thanked God for securing the lives of the people, as no casualty has been recorded so far.

Quoting from Ecclesiastics 9:12 (Moreover, no one knows when their hour will come: As fish are caught in a cruel net, or birds are taken in a snare, so people are trapped by evil times that fall unexpectedly upon them), the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) National President encouraged the people to remain strong and rely on God, since He can turn their unfortunate situation into something good.

“Sometimes we don’t really know what will happen to us tomorrow. Let us strengthen ourselves and look into the future, which is very bright. The flood has come, and we can do nothing about it. Our houses and livelihoods have all been submerged. We can only cry to God to bring relief and a better future,” he said.

He added: “The world and its entirety is temporal. Life and its entirety is short, so situations and events that happen on Earth are temporary. Yesterday, it was COVID, but today it’s no more. Today, it’s flooding, but tomorrow, floods will be no more.

“So we have come today to manage this temporary situation. We cannot close our eyes on you because it affects the entire church when something happens to the people. Together, we can manage this flood situation and get out of it stronger,” he indicated.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye thanked the Volta Regional Coordinating Committee (Volta RCC) of the church, led by the Ho Area Head, Apostle Dr Dela Quampah, and the Sogakope Area Head, Pastor Godwin Coffie Adzahlie, and other Area Heads and pastors in the region for effectively managing the situation.

Upon further assessing the impact of the disaster, the Chairman promised to bring the victims an additional 100 bags of rice and other relief items.

At the same time, the Women’s Ministry Director, Mrs Philomina Mireku, who was part of the delegation, hinted that her ministry was mobilising relief items across the country to alleviate the victims’ plights.

The General Secretary, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, said the coming of the church’s leadership to the affected communities showed the church has love for the people and was concerned about their plights.

According to the Sogakope Area Head, Pastor Godwin Coffie Adzahlie, many church buildings, mission houses, residences of church members, farmlands, and livelihoods have been affected by the floods. At the same time, thousands have been displaced and sheltered in temporal structures.

Later, the Volta RCC Coordinator, Apostle Dr Dela Quampah, and the Sogakope Area Head, Pastor Adzahlie, led the General Secretary, Apostle Obuobi, and his team, riding on a boat, to visit some of the affected places, including the Mepe District Mission House and Central Assembly church buildings which were all submerged in water.

Apostle Gyau Obuobi called on the chief of Mepe and his traditional council to commiserate with them. He also interacted with the North Tongu District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Osborn K. Divine Fenu, at the District Assembly.
