Apostle Samuel Oboubi Urges Christians To Actively Preach The Gospel

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Oboubi, has made a clarion call to Christians to make conscious efforts to preach the gospel message of Jesus Christ.

He made this call during a sermon at the Handing Over and Induction service for the former and new Executives of the Ghana Evangelical Missions Association, held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Calvary Baptist Church, Shiashie.

Explaining what the Gospel is, the General Secretary said that it is the good news about Jesus and what God has done in Christ. He explained that because the world was filled with sin and had separated man from God, Jesus Christ came to die to pay the penalty for sin so that mankind may become children of God through faith alone in Jesus Christ.

According to Apostle Oboubi, it is important to note that the gospel is never about what individuals have done or can do but about what Jesus has already accomplished. Hence, there is no need for it to be diluted to seek personal praise.

He noted that if the death and resurrection of Christ are not the gospel, then we do not have any gospel to preach about.

Highlighting the characteristics of the gospel, the Chief Scribe of The Church of Pentecost said, “The gospel is so simple that one doesn’t need to go to a seminary to grasp it, nor does anyone need to go into ministry to preach it.”

He also added that the gospel is so powerful that it can defend itself and bring transformation, as evident in Romans 10:16. “It inherently has power. Nobody can defend it. It will defend itself. Just release it. It has the power to save, change lives, and bring transformation,” he stated.

Apostle Oboubi enjoined church leaders to move out of their comfort zones, do away with their personal agendas and church politics, and collaborate to spread the gospel because the Gospel must be carried by the church from one point to another.

The Ghana Evangelical Missions Association is a para-denominational organization established 34 years ago by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit through Rev. Dr. Seth Anyemi to coordinate the work of all mission-related organizations in Ghana, to win more souls for God and increase fruitfulness.

Live To Impact Your Generation – Apostle Obuobi Urges Christians

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has encouraged Christians to strive to make a lasting impact on humanity.

He emphasised that it is the will of God for believers to have a positive influence on the world and future generations.

During the live broadcast of ‘Special Evening Service With the Chairman’ on PENT TV on Sunday, May 26, 2024, Apostle Gyau Obuobi delivered a sermon on the topic, “Maximum Impact,” stressing the duty of Christians to have a much greater impact on their generation and beyond.

“One of God’s purposes for His children on earth is for them to have an impact on their generation. It is never His expectation for us to live through this world without affecting our generation and the ones yet unborn,” he said, adding, “We should aim not just to pass through this life but be determined to make our mark in this world of evil and corruption.”

Quoting Kevin Kruse’s statement that, “Life is about making impact, not making income,” the clergyman explained that money is good but life goes beyond making money, highlighting the necessity of being a channel of blessings to others.

“If God blesses us, it is not for our selfish interest, but also to help others,” he stated, citing the story of Abraham in Genesis 12:3 as example.

Drawing from biblical references such as 1 Peter 1:3 and 1 Corinthians 1:4-7 the General Secretary explained that Christians have the potential to make a significant impact on society.

“By reason of the seed of God and the Holy Spirit in us, we are able to impact the world, we are able to change our societies,” he stated.

Defining impact as affecting one’s generation positively and leaving a legacy, Apostle Obuobi urged Christians to leave an indelible mark wherever they go in this world by bringing transformation into their spheres and having an influence on their generation.

The General Secretary highlighted the fleeting nature of life and the urgency of taking action now to make a meaningful impact, saying, “Life is very short. Today we are here but tomorrow we are not. Therefore, the time to act is now.”

Life, according to Apostle Obuobi, is not about how long one lives but it’s about how impactful they were and how well they lived, contrasting the examples of Jesus, whose short time on earth had a profound and lasting impact on humanity, with Methuselah, who lived a long life but left behind no legacy. He noted that albeit longevity is good, it is nothing if not accompanied by a legacy of impact.

“Our time may be short, but our impact can be great,” he stressed.

Apostle Gyau Obuobi emphasised the need for sacrifices and willingness to pay the price in order to make a maximum impact. He cited examples from the Bible, such as Jesus Christ (Philippians 2:6-8) and Abraham (Genesis 12:1,4), who made significant sacrifices in their efforts to impact lives positively. The level of impact, according to him, is directly related to the sacrifices one is willing and able to make.

He attributed the limited impact of Christians to their inability to make the necessary sacrifices and pay the required prices. He urged them to be willing to sacrifice their comfort, time, pleasure, sleep, food, and money in their pursuit of making a significant impact on humanity.

Study, Obey, And Teach The Word Of God –Apostle Obuobi Charges Christian Leaders

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has advised Christian leaders to make every effort to study the scriptures thoroughly, teach and live by the word of God.

According to him, studying the word of God is not enough. It’s crucial to apply the teachings in one’s life and share them with others.

He made this known on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 during the opening session of the 2024 Lay Leadership Training School organised by the National Discipleship and Leadership Development Committee (NDLDC) of The Church of Pentecost at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa-Fetteh.

Speaking on the topic: “Study, Obey and Teach,” Apostle Obuobi’s message centered on Ezra 7:10, which highlights Ezra’s commitment to studying the law of the Lord, applying it in his life, and teaching it to others.

“Ezra set his heart to study the scriptures, obeyed what he learned, and made it known to others,” Apostle Obuobi explained, adding; “This attitude is essential and relevant to our lives today.”

Apostle Obuobi underscored that studying the word of God goes beyond mere reading. It involves intentional and deliberate engagement with the scriptures.

He referred to 2 Timothy 2:15, where Apostle Paul advised Timothy to study the Word diligently, explaining that God expects all believers, especially leaders, to take the study of scriptures seriously.

“Leaders, in particular, are called to be diligent students of the scriptures. This involves more than casual reading. It requires a deliberate and intentional approach to understanding and living out the teachings of the Bible”, he revealed.

“Studying the word of God is vital because it is not only about gaining knowledge; the Word is life itself,” he stated.

According to him, engaging with the scripture means engaging with life.

“In today’s world, filled with deceptions and false philosophies, knowing the truth through the word of God is imperative”, he added.

The General Secretary warned of the consequences of disobedience, citing the example of Jonah from Jonah 1, where disobedience led to separation from God. He stressed the importance of not only studying but also obeying the Word to avoid catastrophic consequences and maintain a close relationship with God.

Moreover, he highlighted the responsibility of leaders to teach the scriptures. Quoting Apostle Eric Nyamekye, he noted that teaching involves reasoning, explaining, and proving from the scriptures.

“This approach was exemplified by Paul in Acts 17:2-3, where he reasoned, explained, and proved the truth from the scriptures,” he stated.

“Teaching the Word requires discipline and an open heart. We must study, obey, and teach the scriptures to lead effectively and faithfully”, Apostle Obuobi concluded.

The 2024 Lay Leadership Training School began today, May 28, 2024 and is expected to conclude on Friday, May 31, 2024.

Notable speakers for the conference included Apostle Samuel Gakpetor (Chairman, NDLDC); Apostle John Budu Kobina Tawiah (Tamale Area Head); Apostle Emmanuel Ankra Badu (Tema Area Head); Pastor Emmanuel Pasteeco Arthur (Resident Minister, PIWC New Tafo); Mrs. Gifty Otu Appiah and Elder Ing Eric Atta-Sonno.

Our Day Of Pentecost Has Come – Apostle Samuel Obuobi

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has urged church leaders and members to brace themselves for a new move of the Spirit as they observe Pentecost.

According to him, through the “Possessing the Nations” agenda, the Lord is leading the church in a new direction, which is a paradigm shift from establishing homogenous churches to multinational, multiracial, and multicultural churches.

Apostle Obuobi shared these insights today when he presented a paper on the topic “Building a Multinational, Multiracial, and Multicultural Church” at the Pentecost 2024 Conference at the Rudolf Weber Arena in Oberhausen, Germany.

In his presentation, Apostle Obuobi asserted that God’s method has always been from one to many. He explained that God chose Abraham, through whom He raised the nation of Israel to serve as a conduit to reach out to the entire world. He noted that God began with a homogenous people, but on the day of Pentecost, when the Spirit came, He empowered the disciples to evangelize to the diverse people who had come to observe Pentecost, resulting in over 3000 people from all over the world turning to the Lord.

Apostle Obuobi drew a parallel between Israel and The Church of Pentecost, explaining that just as God called James McKeown to start a homogenous church in the Gold Coast (now Ghana), He is now moving the church towards a more inclusive model.

“The Church started as a homogenous church, but in recent times, we can observe God’s hand silently guiding the whole church towards establishing multicultural, multiracial, and multinational churches,” he said.

He emphasised that The Church of Pentecost has flourished by establishing homogenous churches, but God is redirecting it, asserting, “Our day of Pentecost has come.”

He added, “I see this conference and its name – Pentecost 2024 – to be divine. For there is going to be a mighty shakeup and revival from here to go possess the world.”

Apostle Obuobi highlighted the City Church concept as one of the models that has emerged in this regard.

He described the city church as an all-embracing church that, through high service standards, takes the gospel to the cities and possesses them for the Lord.

Despite possible challenges in implementing the city church concept, such as diverse cultural expectations, he noted that the multicultural church holds great potential for the church.

He pointed out that the diversity in heaven, which hosts the Trinity, four living elders, and angels, is a good justification for establishing multicultural, multiracial, and multinational churches.

“If there is diversity in heaven, why can’t there be diversity in the church?” he quizzed.

Apostle Obuobi also stressed that Jesus died for every race, and for this reason, every race has a place in God’s church.

He concluded by stating that diversity ensures great potential for the church, highlighting that “No single-race church can save the world.”

The Resurrection Is Proof Of Christ's Deity - Apostle Samuel Obuobi web

The Resurrection Is Proof Of Christ’s Deity – Apostle Samuel Obuobi

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has said that Jesus’ resurrection after His gruesome crucifixion is proof that He is God.

According to him, just as the birth of Christ affirmed His human nature, His resurrection from the dead is proof that He was no ordinary human being but God.

Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi said this today during the Resurrection Sunday Service held at the Amrahia Community Park by the Amrahia Zone of the Madina Area of the Church to climax this year’s Easter Convention.

In his sermon, he said that most people who die are unable to come back to life as it is appointed unto man to die once.

Apostle Samuel Obuobi, however, noted that the Bible makes mention of some individuals who came back to life after experiencing death, citing Lazarus, the man at Nain, etc.

He further explained that despite their good fortune of having a second chance at life, all of them experienced death again.

The General Secretary, therefore, noted that what makes Jesus’ resurrection amazing and unique is that He will never taste death ever again as He has completely defeated death.

He explained that the devil and his cohorts were determined to keep Jesus in the grave, but it was impossible for death to keep hold of Him because He is God.

“Satan did everything to stop him from coming back. The large stone at the tomb, the seal of the Governor, and the well-built and trained soldiers put in place to guard the tomb still could not prevent Jesus from coming back to life,” he said.

“If the devil knew that Christ’s death would provide a door for the salvation of humanity, they would have refrained from killing Him,” he added.

He further noted that Christ’s resurrection is the foundation of the Christian faith, for if Christ had not risen from death, the faith of believers would be pointless.

“But to the glory of God, our faith is not futile. Jesus has risen again and his grave is empty,” he said.

He further assured that if Jesus resurrected, then we will also rise from death.”

Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi also encouraged Christians going through difficult times to hold on to their faith in the Lord and trust that in His appointed time, God will come to their rescue.

He said that the theology of “prosperity without suffering” is anti-Christian because God never promised believers an easy life. Rather, He assures them that even in the valley of the shadow of death, He will be with us.

“For every Good Friday (Low Point), there is a Resurrection Sunday (High Point), and there can’t be a Resurrection Sunday without a Good Friday.

“Every warrior must have engaged in battle; one cannot rightfully claim the title of a warrior without having emerged victorious in a conflict or war. So never give up; victory is assured!” He said.

Christ’s Death & Resurrection Has Changed The World Forever – General Secretary Asserts

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has asserted that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the atonement of the sins of humanity is one of the two most important events that has changed the world forever.

Apostle Samuel Obuobi said this today, Thursday, March 28, 2024, during the opening session of this year’s Easter Convention at the Osu Central Assembly auditorium.

Opening the event, the General Secretary stated that two monumental events transformed the course of history: the birth of Christ, celebrated as Christmas, and His death and resurrection, observed during Easter. These occurrences, according to him, continue to resound through time, shaping the very fabric of our world.

Buttressing his assertion, he stated that the timeline of human history is divided into two epochs: Before Christ (BC), signifying the era preceding His birth, and Anno Domini – After Death (AD), which denotes the period after His death. Christianity hinges upon these foundational events, which underscore the core of our faith.

“It is imperative that we proclaim the truth of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection. Despite various theories and conjectures, the undeniable reality is that Christ was crucified.

“As attested by Paul, Jesus died for our sins and was buried in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea. Yet, the story does not end there. On the third day, Jesus triumphantly rose from the dead, defying the grave and validating His divine authority,” he said, adding that the significance of Easter lies in commemorating this unmatched event, which serves as the linchpin of our faith.

He, therefore, urged Christians to take an active part in the Easter celebration and to actively share the Good News and resurrection to all people.

“In times like these, it also calls for sober reflection on the profound impact of Christ’s death and resurrection on our world. Without this pivotal event, our reality would be very different. The death of Christ stands as the cornerstone of our existence today. Imagine where we would be if Christ had not made that ultimate sacrifice.

He also advised them to open up and seek a special encounter with God during the season.

Be A Blessing-Carrying Believer – General Secretary

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has reaffirmed the inherent blessings bestowed upon believers and their role as carriers of God’s blessings.

“Believers are blessed beyond curse, as ordained by the word of God. Our blessings are generational and immutable,” stated Apostle Obuobi during his sermon titled “The Church as the People of God,” delivered on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at the Oyarifa Worship Centre of The Church of Pentecost in the Madina Area.

He emphasized that despite the inevitability of life’s challenges, believers remain under the divine umbrella of God’s blessings.

“Suffering is not antithetical to God’s plan. Even amidst trials, God assures His presence. Our struggles do not diminish our blessed status as children of God,” he explained.

He added: “Theology which excludes sufferings is never from God. God has promised us that even if we walk through fire and in river, he will be with us. The fact that we are going fire does not change the fact that we are children of God.”

Drawing from scripture, Apostle Obuobi referenced 1 Peter 2:9 to illustrate the exalted position of believers as a chosen race, a royal priesthood, and a holy nation.

He paralleled this with the divine selection of Abraham and the subsequent formation of Israel, emphasizing that the Church now embodies God’s chosen people.

In a heart-warming gesture, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi engaged with the children of the Worship Centre during the service to interact with them. The service was attended by the Resident Minister, Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Anim, alongside other congregants.

Ghanaians Urged To Change Their Attitude Towards The Environment web

Ghanaians Urged To Change Their Attitude Towards The Environment

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, has made a passionate appeal to Ghanaians to change their attitudes towards the environment.

Addressing various stakeholders at Kasoa in the Central Region during a national clean-up exercise organised by The Church of Pentecost on Saturday, March 16, 2024, Apostle Obuobi expressed grave concern about how the church members cleaned the Kasoa Main Lorry Station, only to be littered a few minutes later.

According to him, to ensure a sustainable environmental cleanliness, attitudinal change is key. This, he said, calls for intensified public education and the implementation of environmental by-laws.

“The problem we have at hand is attitudinal. We just cleaned this place, and people have littered again. Ghanaians must change their attitudes toward the environment if we really want to ensure a clean environment,” he bemoaned, adding, “Let’s intensify public education for people to change their attitudes.”

Earlier, the General Secretary called on the Kasoa Odikro, Nai Sani Seidu III and his elders. The chiefs expressed their happiness in receiving the General Secretary and his entourage, touting the longstanding relationship that exists between The Church of Pentecost and the Kasoa palace.

Pledging their support for the clean-up exercise, Nai Sani Seidu and his elders joined Apostle Obuobi and moved to the Kasoa Main Lorry Station where they met with the leadership of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) and later engaged traders and hawkers at the station. Apostle Obuobi entreated the GPRTU officials to educate drivers to install dustbins in their vehicles to prevent passengers from throwing away waste out of moving vehicles.

He also entreated traders and hawkers to take issues about the environment seriously to prevent environmental related diseases which may affect their economic activities.

Later, the General Secretary and the chiefs, joined ministers and members of the church to clean various parts of the Kasoa city.

The Environmental Health Officer of the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly, Godson Lodo, told Pentecost News that the Assembly together with Zoomlion joined the exercise to provide logistics.

He thanked The Church of Pentecost for initiating the annual programme, saying, “Ghana is grateful to you.”

The Kasoa Area Coordinator for the Environmental Care Campaign, Pastor David Ayisi, also called on traditional authorities to use their powers to initiate environmental by-laws to help keep Ghana clean.

Apostle Emmanuel Amemaxa conveyed the purpose of the visit, emphasising the desire to fortify the existing relations between both ecclesiastical bodies and to glean insights from The Church of Pentecost, recognised as a leader in the ecumenical community.

Expressing gratitude for the courtesy call, Apostle Gyau Obuobi expressed sincere gratitude for their thoughtful visit and seized the opportunity to underscore the paramount importance of unity and collaboration in advancing the Kingdom’s work

He said that in recent years, The Church of Pentecost has been pursuing the Possessing the Nations agenda, which aims to transform every sphere of life with the values and principles of the Kingdom of God.

During the meeting, the leaders engaged in discussions on various areas of mutual interest, further fostering a spirit of unity and cooperation.

Both parties expressed optimism about the potential for strengthened collaboration, mutual learning, and shared endeavours to contribute to the broader mission of advancing the principles of faith and community service.
