Churches Must Transform Ghana Through Kingdom Values – Apostle Nyamekye

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost and President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), has urged churches to leverage their authority as believers to bring positive change to Ghana.

He made this appeal during the Western Regional session of the All Ministers Conference held at the Assemblies of God Ghana, Word of Life Auditorium in Takoradi, on Friday, August 30, 2024.

The conference, organised by the GPCC, in collaboration with the Western Regional Coordinating Committee of The Church of Pentecost and the Takoradi Network of Councils and Churches, was on the theme: ‘The Church and the World.’

The event, which brought together church leaders from the Western Region, aimed to equip ministers with the necessary tools to be agents of transformation in their respective spheres of influence.

Speaking on the topic, ‘The Authority of the Christian Believer in Transforming the World; The Role of the Church Leader,’ Apostle Nyamekye noted that despite Ghana’s high religiosity, the country continues to struggle with issues like corruption, raising questions about the Church’s impact.

The GPCC President stressed the need for unity among church leaders, stating that they are ‘all one in God.’ He indicated that the Church, as God’s representative on earth, must prioritise transforming the world, just as Jesus Christ did by reconciling sworn enemies like the Gentiles and Jews.

Apostle Nyamekye challenged ministers of the Gospel to prepare adequately before preaching and to change their approach to ministry to effectively combat the devil’s tactics.

He stated: ‘It is insufficient to have church activities without Kingdom authority being witnessed in the community,’ and added that the church must ‘infect the world with the Kingdom Culture.’

He encouraged ministers, their spouses, and all Christians to see themselves as God’s envoys with the mandate to transform their world.

Apostle Nyamekye informed the attendees that the aim of the conference was not to teach ministers how to run their churches but to partner with them and add to what they already have.

Get Involved In The Unleashing Agenda – Chairman Charges Members

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has charged all members of the church to get involved in the unleashing agenda of the church to possess the nations.

He made this charge on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Madina when speaking at the welcome service of three ministers and their wives.

The ministers are Prophet Kwasi Asante Annor (Resident Minister of the newly opened Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Trasacco), Apostle Ebenezer Korankye Agyapong (Minister-In-Charge of the E-Church), and Overseer Ebenezer Emmanuel Owusu (Associate Minister of the E-Church).

According to him, the vision of the church to be unleashed into the world to transform it, is not only limited to ministers, but it is a commission to every member of the church of God.

Apostle Nyamekye explained that the Church has so much power that even the gates of hell cannot stand it.

He added that the church holds the keys to heaven and if it does not move, heaven cannot do anything.

Chairman Nyamekye stated that God does not expect the church to sit in the confines of their buildings but to be an institution which is always on the move, proclaiming the gospel of Christ and transforming their world.

He mentioned that this is why the fathers of the early church called the ministries in The Church of Pentecost, ‘movements.’

He advised members not to be afraid because God would not have commissioned the church to move out if He has not given them the power to go out.

Apostle Nyamekye called on all members not to see the unleashing agenda as a preserve of people in clerical because the church is a group of ordinary people called through Jesus to belong to God and bring joy to the world.

He urged every member to be involved in ministry outside the fortress of the church, with the sole aim of projecting the values and principles of God and turning many to Christ.

Church Leaders Must Take Charge – Apostle Nyamekye Advises

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has called on church leaders to arise and take charge of their church in order to achieve set goals and growth.

He made the call on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, during the Day One of the orientation for newly appointed leaders at the Pentecost Pension House, Gbawe, Accra.

Speaking on the topic, Building God’s Church; The Role Of The Church Leader,’ Apostle Nyamekye revealed that the church as an institution is both an organism and an organisation.

He highlighted that as an organism, the church’s life must be maintained, and as an organisation it needs leadership.

He indicated that the life of the church which must be maintained is represented in growth, reproduction and adaptation.

He cautioned that the church should not be seen as a company because companies live only based on social purposes, but the church is for the holistic growth of its members and society.

Apostle Nyamekye mentioned that two things that release the energies of members are when God arises in His power and when leaders arise and take charge.

He urged leaders to focus on prayer and creating environments for members to encounter God, asserting that true leadership combines diligence, vision, and character, rather than authority or glamour.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye maintained that while pastoral titles are important, effective leadership requires continuous learning and dedication to spiritual growth.

The Ultimate Goal Of The Church Is To Deliver The World To God – Apostle Nyamekye

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost and President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has stated that God has mandated the Church to deliver the kingdoms of the world into the marvellous light of Jesus Christ.

He revealed this on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, when speaking at ‘Maximum Impact ’24 Summit’ organised by the Powerhouse Ministries International, Accra.

Referring to John 3:1, Apostle Nyamekye indicated that the God’s greatest focus is the world. He explained the God demonstrated His extreme love for the world by giving His only begotten Son to be sacrificed for the salvation of the world.

According to him, since God’s focus is the world, the Church should also focus on redeeming and transforming the world for God.

The Chairman mentioned that all activities done in the church are not the end of Christianity but are meant to prepare the Church to step out and transform the world.

Questioning why corruption is still a major challenge facing Ghana even though there are church auditoriums scattered all over the country, he averred that it is so because the Church has not been unleashed into the world to transform it.

He revealed that God has given the Church, which encompasses everyone that has accepted Christ as their Lord and personal Saviour, the power to live a transformed life. He, however, cautioned that the power has not been given to the Church to be kept in church buildings but to go out and set free those who have been made captives by the kingdoms of the world.

The GPCC president lamented that the challenge with Christians in recent times is that they see the Church as a building and limit God’s presence there, saying, ‘It is time Christians recognise that the Church of God is limitless and without boundaries.’

Apostle Eric Nyamekye called on all believers to note that ministry does not only involve pastors and apostles but every single individual who has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

Don’t Joke With Prayer; The World Is Evil – Apostle Nyamekye Cautions

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has strongly admonished Christians not to relent on prayer.

Speaking on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, during morning devotion of the Head Office Management and Staff, the Chairman drew the attention of believers to the fact that the world is full of evil, and so they must never joke with their prayer life.

Apostle Nyamekye drew a vivid picture of how evil the world is by referencing Psalm 109, stressing that the devil usually attacks at a time when everything appears peaceful.

‘Prayerlessness can be a dangerous game which the Christian must not engage in,’ he cautioned.

The Chairman went on to explain that prayer neutralises the threats of the devil and his agents, and that Christians should put in effort to let their light shine at evil places to dispel darkness and the works of evil people.

Chairman Pays Glowing Tribute to Pastor Prof. Ellis

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, paid a glowing tribute to Pastor Professor William Otoo Ellis, who has served as the Children’s Ministry Director for the past four years.

Before this role, Pastor Prof. Ellis served as the Deputy Director of the Children’s Ministry for a year.

During a celebratory retirement service held in honour of the Ellis family today at the PIWC-Kaneshie auditorium, Apostle Nyamekye commended Pastor Prof. Ellis for his exceptional contributions to the church, emphasising his pivotal role in the transformation of the Children’s Ministry.

“Four years ago, we thought that our Children’s Ministry needed repositioning because we depended too much on our partners,” Apostle Nyamekye stated.

“We thought that we should have a model of our own that we can call ours. When we thought of the person to do this, the Lord gave us Pastor Prof. Otoo Ellis. And I can say that he has done just that.”

Under Pastor Prof. Ellis’s leadership, significant advancements were made, including introducing new initiatives such as the Jethro Initiative, Foundation Builders Conference, and Children’s Community Club, among others.

The outgone Director also singlehandedly constructed and donated a Children’s Resource Centre to the Churches. This centre serves as a training ground for Children’s workers and the children themselves.

Apostle Nyamekye highlighted that Pastor Prof. Ellis’s greatest contribution was his exemplary Christian lifestyle.

“But for me, his greatest contribution was that he walked among us, the pastors, and taught us Christianity with his life. I observed him from afar and up close, and he demonstrated true Christian character in his submissions during meetings,” he shared.

Before his commendable service within the church, Pastor Prof. Otoo Ellis had already established a distinguished career in academia, notably serving as the Vice Chancellor of one of the largest universities in Ghana and Africa.

Despite his impressive accomplishments, Apostle Nyamekye noted, “He humbled himself when he joined the pastorate.”

African Discipleship Strategic Movement Pays Courtesy Call On Chairman

A delegation from the African Discipleship Strategic Movement paid a courtesy call on the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, on Thursday, July 25, 2024.

The delegation, comprising representatives and trainers from the West African block of the movement, was led by Dr. Ernie Frey, the Global Director for the Movement.

Also present were Apostle Samuel Gyau Oboubi, the General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost; Apostle Samuel Gapketor, Chairman of the National Discipleship and Leadership Committee (NDLC); and a regional trainer for the African Discipleship.

The meeting focused on pressing issues regarding discipleship in churches and explored how the church can transform its spheres with deliberate discipleship efforts.

Dr. Ernie Frey inquired about the discipleship processes within The Church of Pentecost and the extent of leadership involvement.

In response, Apostle Nyamekye explained that the Church operates an administrative system centered on discipleship, with major efforts conducted at the grassroots level.

He highlighted the existence of a national discipleship team that trains individuals to spread the discipleship message and training at the local levels.

Apostle Nyamekye emphasized the Church’s robust reporting system, which provides feedback that helps the leadership gauge the impact of the discipleship policy and ensures excellence in its delivery.

Apostle Gapketor also noted the active involvement of the Church’s principal officers in leadership and discipleship training seminars and their enthusiastic support for the associated budgets.

When asked about balancing the ministerial and personal lives of ministers, Apostle Nyamekye acknowledged the existing gaps and emphasised the Church’s efforts to raise awareness and encourage ministers to address these issues.

He added that prayer is a key form of discipleship within The Church of Pentecost, praying for the maturity of its members, akin to the practices of Apostle Paul.

The delegation commended Apostle Nyamekye and the leadership of The Church of Pentecost for their exceptional efforts in building a globally recognized church.

Use Your Platform To Defend Jesus, Not Yourself – Apsotle Nyamekye Advises Christian Leaders

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has advised Christian leaders to use their platform to propagate Jesus instead of drawing public attention to themselves.

He said this on Sunday, June 2, 2024, when he delivered a sermon titled “Learning To Be Quiet” during a communion service at the Burma Camp Worship Centre in Accra.

Apostle Nyamekye reminded believers that Christianity demands a transformation in one’s way of life.

He stated: “We no longer live to please ourselves but the one who died to save us. As people of God, we need to prove to the world that we are children of God.”

Drawing from Mark 15:1-5, he highlighted Jesus’ silence before Pilate as an example for Christians to follow. He urged pastors to use their platforms to defend Jesus, not themselves.

He also referenced Isaiah 53:7 and Luke 21:16 to further emphasise the importance of quietness and patience, especially in the face of adversity.

Apostle Nyamekye stressed the need for Christians to control their words.

He advised Christians to weigh their words carefully, considering what to say, when, where, and how to say it.

He warned about the potential dangers of uncontrolled speech, stating, “Words will always chart a course for you to follow. You can be emancipated by your words or trapped by it. The tongue is like a fire; It is a deadly poison; It is evil; it is restless, a trouble-causer.”

Quoting from Peter 4:11, urged them to avoid unwholesome talk, which grieves the Holy Spirit, as seen in Ephesians 4:30-31. He further advised Christians to speak graciously, as stated in Luke 4:22.

Apostle Nyamekye called on Christians to set high standards for their speech and to be intentional and conscious in controlling their words, saying, “We are unleashed to be signs and wonders to our world. Let us amaze people with our quietness. Let us bless people with our gracious words.”

The service was attended by Mrs. Mary Nyamekye, wife of the Chairman; Apostle (Col. Dr) Benjamin Godson Kumi-Woode, Ag. Chaplain of the Ghana Armed Forces, and his wife, Mrs. Victoria Kumi-Woode; and Pastor Cornelius Edem Lotsu, Resident Minister of the Burma Camp Worship Centre.

Christians Urged To Walk Away From Contentious People

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost and President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has advised Christians on the need to stay away from contentious people.

He mentioned that such people believe only in their opinions and see anyone who disagrees with them as an enemy, warning Christians to be cautious in their interactions with them.

Apostle Nyamekye shared this advice in a live televised sermon on PENT TV as part of his series on “Bitterness,” during a ‘Special Evening Service With the Chairman’ on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

In his sermon, Chairman Nyamekye quoted Mike Murdock, stating, “Any contentious person who refuses to change must not continue to have access to you.” He highlighted the unchanging and malevolent nature of contentious people, citing the story of Nehemiah and his adversaries Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem (Nehemiah 6:1-4) to illustrate his point.

He stressed the importance of not engaging with conflict-driven individuals and advised Christians to walk away from them, referencing Proverbs 26:20.

“If someone permits the spirit of conflict and disputing to enter their life, it is best to walk away from them as such people are unlikely to change and can potentially cause harm,” he stated.

Apostle Nyamekye discussed the story of Joseph and his brothers, emphasising Joseph’s decision to distance himself from his brothers after he was released from prison due to their wicked intentions. He revealed that in their encounters, Joseph experienced moments of weeping and contemplated seeking revenge on his brothers for their actions, but ultimately chose to forgive them for the fear of God (Genesis 42:18).

The Chairman believed that Joseph’s third cry helped him release the bitterness from his heart, as shown by his reconciliation with his brothers (Genesis 45:1-5). He, however, pointed out that while crying can be a natural emotional response, it does not always indicate repentance or forgiveness, as bitterness can still remain even after tears are shed, saying, “One can release bitter feelings without crying.”

Apostle Nyamekye also stressed the significance of Christians maintaining quietness and controlling their mouths when offended, drawing parallels from the behaviours of Joseph and Jesus in the face of adversity (Mark 15:1-5, Isaiah 53:7). He urged Christians to trust in God’s timing for vindication and not to fret over issues, as their destiny is secure in Him.

Reading from Luke 21:16-19, the noted theologian emphasised the inevitability of disturbances and offenses in life and urged Christians to practice patience, saying, “Quietness goes with patience, and in patience, shall you save your souls.”

Apostle Eric Nyamekye concluded his sermon by reminding Christians of the demand of their newly found faith, stating it is required of them to live to please Jesus who loved them and gave His life for their ransom.

“As a people of God, we need to be men amongst men. People should see that we are born of God,” he said.

Man’s Greatest Need Is Wisdom – Apostle Nyamekye Reveals web

Man’s Greatest Need Is Wisdom – Apostle Nyamekye Reveals

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has averred that wisdom is man’s greatest need on earth.

He made this revelation on Sunday, June 16, 2024, during the climax of the 2024 Pentecost Men’s Ministry Week celebration at the Kaneshie Central assembly auditorium.

Speaking on the topic, ‘Man, Be Strong and Courageous,’ Apostle Nyamekye indicated that God created man to manage the earth. However, for man to effectively manage the earth, God blessed them with wisdom. To exemplify this wisdom needed to manage the world, God created everything man needs on earth before creating them.

The Chairman explained that to be blessed does not mean a person does not need to do any work. Rather, a person who has been blessed by God needs to work hard to activate this blessing.

According to Apostle Nyamekye, life is full of challenges and as a result, humans are always confronted with decision making, saying, ‘There are decisions we need to take in life to move on to another step. Some of them are complex while others are simple. But in all, we need wisdom from above to make good decisions.’

He indicated that people were created by God to solve difficult problems, answer tough questions and meet expectations. In all these, he stated, wisdom is required.

Referencing 1 Samuel 8:19-20, Apostle Nyamekye called on men to note that they have a duty to fight the battles of their children and families, not just producing children.

Highlighting some of the fields where wisdom is required to manage, the Chairman mentioned marriage as one of them since it comes with a lot of challenges which when not properly managed with wisdom will lead to a lot of distractions.

One other field he mentioned is business, explaining that with wisdom, one can move from a tabletop business to a group of businesses.

According to Apostle Nyamekye, a man is a leader, and that leadership involves work, and response ability which translate into responsibility. He, however, said that leadership is not about showmanship, power, wealth, fame, making one’s enemies fear him or his friends admire him.

He added that a man is created to be a husband and just like Christ, the husband must love his wife, put in efforts to polish his wife to make her look very good and glorify his wife for his own good.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye called on Christian men to ask for wisdom from above because when King Solomon asked for wisdom to rule, God was very pleased with him.
