Great Revival Breaks Out In Atebubu

A powerful wave of revival swept through the Atebubu Low Cost Central Assembly as Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, led the congregation into a fervent prayer session and Holy Spirit impartation.

Hearts were open, voices raised, and a tangible sense of divine presence filled the packed auditorium as worshippers eagerly sought a fresh encounter with the Holy Spirit.

With every prayer lifted, the congregation responded with even greater fervor, filling the atmosphere with renewed faith and expectancy. It was a night of transformation, as the Spirit moved mightily, rekindling hearts and inspiring a deep hunger for God among all who attended.

This happened after Apostle Nyamekye’s message titled, “Lord, Teach Us to Pray,” on Friday, October 1, 2024, at the Atebubu Low Cost Central Auditorium.

The Chairman spoke about the essential role that prayer played in Jesus’ life. The disciples recognized that His strength and purpose stemmed from His devoted prayer life—a practice they longed to understand and emulate.

Referencing Mark 1:21, Apostle Nyamekye highlighted the humanity of Jesus, pointing out that though Jesus was divine, He also experienced human limitations.

“Jesus Christ needed strength from God because he was also a man in human flesh,” he remarked.

He added: “As humans, we too need the strength of God to withstand life’s challenges.”

Apostle Nyamekye defined “uphold” as the act of supporting, defending, lifting up, and sustaining—qualities every believer needs to embody in their spiritual journey.

He urged believers to seek God’s strength first thing in the morning, a practice he described as vital to a fruitful and resilient Christian life.

“We are weak because we don’t have time for God,” he observed, pointing to a lack of prayer as the root of spiritual weakness.

Apostle Nyamekye concluded by saying, “Prayer will change you, and through that change, you will impact the world around you.”

Present at the service were Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh (PEMEM Director / Executive Council Member); Apostle Isaac Amatey Anim (Atebubu Area Head); Prophet Fred Antwi (Duayaw Nkwanta Area Head); Very Rev. Emmanuel Atta Kakra Mensah (Anglican Church, Dean of Atebubu Cathedral); Rev. Michael Owusu (Anglican Church); Rev. Joseph Danquah (Presbyterian Church of Ghana); some pastors within the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) in Atebubu and the area pastorate.

Chairman Nyamekye Calls On Believers To Prioritise Prayer In Their Lives web

Chairman Nyamekye Calls On Believers To Prioritise Prayer In Their Lives

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has highlighted the critical importance of prayer in the life of the believer.

According to him, in Luke 11:1, where the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray, they were not interested in the visible miracles or successes of Jesus’ ministry, but in the foundational practice (prayer) that sustained Him.

He said this on Wednesday, October 29, 2024, in a sermon titled, “Teach Us How to Pray,” during a gathering of elders at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) – Kokomlemle, Accra.

“To pray is the greatest thing one can do, especially for those seeking revival in their lives,” Apostle Nyamekye stated, stressing on the role of prayer in personal and spiritual transformation.

Referencing Mark 1, Apostle Nyamekye pointed out that Jesus often woke up early to pray, not out of mere discipline, but because He understood the need for prayer.

“Why would Jesus, the Son of God, rise so early to pray?” Apostle Nyamekye asked. “Because He knew that He needed to be sustained by the Father.”

Quoting Isaiah 42:1-2, the Chairman explained that Jesus was upheld and sustained by God, driven by His need for divine strength.

“In these solitary places, God molds His people, not just to make them great preachers, but to prepare them for effective ministry,” he disclosed.

The Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) President further stressed that God’s anointing does not come upon machines but upon human beings.

“When many people pray with you, they share your burden, but God’s true men and women are formed in the closet,” he added, referencing Matthew 6:5-6, where Jesus encourages private prayer.

He warned against the dangers of neglecting personal devotion, saying, “Lack of closeness with the ‘Master’ can lead to spiritual leanness and ineffectual ministry.”

He urged believers to spend meaningful time with God, stating that short devotions weaken spiritual vitality, hinder progress, and undermine the foundations of a vibrant spiritual life.

Apostle Nyamekye encouraged believers to prioritise prayer and cultivate an intimate relationship with God, as it is the key to sustaining their spiritual journey and ministry.

Present at the meeting were Apostle Dr. Dieudonne Komla Nuekpe (La Area Head), Apostle Dr Col. Benjamin G. Kumi-Woode (Director of Religious Affairs, Ghana Armed Forces), among others.

Think About Tomorrow – Apostle Nyamekye Admonishes Politicians & Leaders

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has admonished politicians and all persons in leadership positions to think about tomorrow in all they do.

He made this admonishment at the opening session of the Younger Generation Politicians and Leaders Conference held at the Pentecost Convention Centre on Thursday, October 10, 2024.

Themed “Tomorrow Today: The Place of the Young Politician/Leader in Ghana’s Moral Vision and National Development,” the conference brought together emerging leaders to discuss their pivotal role in shaping the future of Ghana.

Delivering the sermon at the service, Apostle Nyamekye lamented the short-term thinking prevalent among current leaders, urging a shift towards long-term policies that prioritise national prosperity over electoral victories.

He referenced 1 Samuel 8:19, drawing parallels between historical leadership in Israel and contemporary expectations of politicians.

He expressed concern that many young leaders today seem more focused on personal gain rather than serving their communities. “Politics seems to be an easy way to make money,” he remarked, cautioning that such motivations can undermine the integrity essential for effective leadership.

Chairman Nyamekye emphasised that true leadership is rooted in responsibility—addressing public concerns, solving problems, and meeting community needs. He warned that without these qualities, leaders risk becoming mere figureheads.

“Politics makes you a public official and cannot hide,” he stated, highlighting the vulnerability that comes with public service and the necessity for integrity and skillful governance.

He highlighted the church’s vested interest in politics, asserting that the church’s mission extends beyond spiritual salvation to societal transformation.

“If the church cannot bring transformation to the nation, then it is of no purpose,” he declared.

He urged young politicians to view their roles as a ministry dedicated to fostering national development through ethical decision-making.

He called for a new generation of leaders who prioritise societal betterment over immediate electoral success.

“The most important factor in the development of every nation is the nature of its citizens,” he stated, emphasising that character and integrity must be at the forefront of leadership.

Apostle Eric Nyamekye Urges Church Leaders To Prioritise Personal Devotion

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has called on church leaders to deepen their commitment to prayer and spiritual renewal through personal devotion.

Addressing presiding elders and elders in Kumasi at the Dunamis English Assembly auditorium in Bantama, on Friday, October 4, 2024, Chairman Nyamekye emphasised the importance of withdrawing from the hustle and bustle of ministry to seek divine strength, drawing inspiration from Luke 5:15-16, where Jesus often retreated to pray.

According to him, even though Jesus Christ performed several miracles and wonders, He never gloried in that. Rather, He prioritised withdrawing from the masses to pray for longer hours to renew His strength.

The Chairman noted that spiritual battles require more than mere determination, but rather a robust connection with God.

‘Without God’s strength, the challenges of this world will come as a trap and weigh you down,’ he cautioned.

He highlighted the dangers of short devotions, which he described as detrimental to deep piety and spiritual rigour. He stated that many biblical figures engaged in lengthy private prayers before making public declarations.

‘Devotion cannot be confined to time limits,’ he asserted, urging ministers to prioritise longer periods of prayer to foster a deeper relationship with God and enhance their ministry effectiveness.

Apostle Nyamekye cautioned that a lack of closeness with Jesus could lead to ‘lean souls and ineffective ministry.’

He encouraged church leaders to be vigilant and proactive in seeking strength from God, stressing that short devotions often contribute to spiritual backsliding within congregations.

God’s People Are Built In Prayer Closets – Apostle Nyamekye Disclosed

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has revealed that God’s mighty men and women are built through intensive prayers.

He made this disclosed while speaking to presiding elders and elders of the church in the Ashanti Region on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Bantama Assembly.

Speaking on the topic, ‘Lord, Teach Us To Pray,’ Apostle Nyamekye emphasised that prayer is essential in the life of every Christian, especially leaders in the faith. He revealed that the best prayers are said in secluded places, just as Jesus did in Mark 1:35, stating that ‘secluded places are where God’s men and women, useful for ministry, are made.’

Apostle Nyamekye stated that to be truly useful in the arms of God, church leaders must seek Him in secluded places through dedicated and long periods of prayer.

Highlighting the importance of dedicating time to prayer, Chairman Nyamekye explained that Jesus prayed because He recognised it as a need.

‘Jesus was aware that having taken on human form, He would be tempted and could grow weak and weary. Therefore, He needed to rely on God, who assures to uphold, support, defend against opposition, and sustain all who seek Him,’ he said.

Apostle Nyamekye further noted that the best texts and messages are gained from the closet through prayers, disclosing that waiting on God through prayer is the period that people have face-to-face encounter with God, who provides deeper revelations and insights into scriptures.

Using himself as an example, he said, ‘My best messages come to me when I am on my knees in prayer. Sometimes, I would have finished preparing my sermon for a programme, and a few hours before the event when I zoom into prayer, it is then that God dismantles the whole sermon and rearranges it.’

He called on all to revert to the typical Pentecostal prayers which are more focused on the Holy Spirit and an intercessory rather that personal needs so the world will hear and benefit from it.

Create Hostile Environment To Halt Galamsey Activities – Apostle Nyamekye Charges Security Forces

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost and President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has charged security forces in Ghana to create a hostile environment to stem the activities of illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

He made this charge on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the Burma Camp in Accra where he was the guest speaker for the Ghana Military Christian Fellowship’s Day of Prayer under the theme, ‘Pray for the wellbeing of Ghana and it shall be well with you.’

According to Apostle Nyamekye, corruption of all forms, which emanate from incompetence and greed are detrimental to the development of nations. He mentioned amongst others, poverty, lack of development, diseases and unemployment as some of the effects of corruption on the country.

The GPCC President explained that galamsey is one of the forms of corruption that is causing great harm to Ghana, and it is thriving because people are leaving with conflicting values and for themselves.

He suggested that in order to solve this menace, there is a need for all, especially those in power to work at a new Ghana, which has defined moral values. This, he said, will involve creating an environment which will make it difficult for anyone to engage in illegal mining.

Apostle Nyamekye also cautioned Christians not to excuse themselves from activities that will contribute to the growth and development of their nations, because corrupt social structures will make life difficult for everyone, including the righteous.

He called on the military to perform their duties diligently during, before and after the forthcoming general elections to the glory of God. He also encouraged them to continue to pray for the peace and prosperity of the nation.

Present at the service were Honourable Kofi Amankwa Manu (Deputy Minister of Defense), Major General B. K. Onwona (Chief of Army Staff), Apostle Dr Colonel Benjamin Godson Kumi-Woode (Acting Director General, Religious Affairs – Ghana Armed Forces), Chaplain Generals of the various security forces and high-ranking officers of the forces.

Sacrifice Today For Better Tomorrow – Chairman Advises Christians

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, has encouraged believers going through troubles to endure for there is hope for a better tomorrow.

He said this on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the Sophia Cudjoe Memorial Temple in the Teshie-Nungua Area of The Church of Pentecost during a thanksgiving service held in honour of the late Hon. Deaconess Mrs Eunice Jacqueline Buah Asomah-Hinneh, a member of the Council of State of the Republic of Ghana.

Speaking on a message titled, ‘Tearful Sowing, Joyful Reaping,’ the Chairman stressed on the enduring values of faith, hope, and love in Christian life. He explained that these three virtues guide righteous living on earth, forming the foundation of most church teachings.

Referencing Psalm 126:1-6, Apostle Nyamekye highlighted how the psalmist celebrates Israel’s return from exile and expresses a prayer for their full restoration. He contrasted this with Psalm 137, where the psalmist reflects on Israel’s bitter experiences in Babylon.

The Israelites, according to him, known for their love of singing, lost their joy while in captivity, facing hardships they never imagined, with no hope of return. He noted that endurance was key during this period of suffering.

The Chairman stressed the need for messages of hope, not only during funerals but also in daily struggles.

He acknowledged that life on earth can be difficult, with challenges in marriage, family life, and personal endeavours. However, he encouraged believers to endure, reminding them that living in luxury does not exempt one from life’s challenges.

‘The only hope we have in this life is when Christ comes and takes us home; all other grounds are sinking sand,” he said.

Addressing the difficulties of raising godly children and living out one’s faith in a world filled with adversity, Apostle Nyamekye acknowledged that bad things happen to good people, and not everyone will be supportive. Yet, he encouraged believers to stand firm, quoting Hebrews 10:32-38:

‘We do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved,’ he said.

He urged Christians to persevere, even when life does not go as planned, saying, ‘There’s always an opportunity to turn back, but let us focus on Christ and serve Him in righteousness.’

Citing Proverbs 11:16, he reminded believers that their citizenship is in heaven and that they will one day rest from their labours. For those who sow in tears for Christ’s sake, he promised, they will reap in joy.

Apostle Nyamekye concluded with a powerful message on hope, stating, ‘Hope that is seen is not hope. If we hope for what we do not see, we wait patiently for it.’

He encouraged Christians to hold on to their faith, trusting that God will wipe away every tears, and that the past will be forgotten in the joy of their final reward.

Present at the service were Apostle Wilberforce Nkrumah Ayemang (Teshie-Nungua Area Head), Apostle Daniel Ato Eduah (Germany National Head), Pastor Benjamin Mensah (Hungary National Head), Hon. Elder Ahmed Ibrahim (Member of Parliament for Banda), Tufuhene Nana Ato (Princess Town), Hon. Captain Nkrabeah Effah Dartey (rtd), retired ministers of the church, area pastorate, government officials and workers of Labianca Company Ltd.

Operate In The Supernatural – Apostle Nyamekye Charges Churches

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost and President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has charged churches in Ghana and across the world to operate in the supernatural power of God to possess nations for Christ.

He made this charge on Saturday, September 14, 2024, when speaking at the Cedar Mountain Chapel International, Assemblies of God, Accra during the Transformational Pastors and Leaders Conference.

Apostle Nyamekye revealed that Jesus gave the church gifts for Kingdom growth and expansion, adding that no one particular gift is enough for church growth.

He, however, bemoaned the unfortunate trend in Africa where people decide to open their own churches when they receive a gift from God.

Referencing Mark 1:21-45 & Mark 2:1-5, Chairman Nyamekye called on ministers not to be limited in ministry because Jesus was not constrained to one aspect of ministry; he was a teacher and a preacher who casted out demons, and many more.

He called on the church to operate in the supernatural to attract people because many are in need of Christ.

Apostle Nyamekye revealed that one of the challenges affecting the spirituality of the church today is the fact that this generation has lost consciousness about the gifts of the Spirt because they have limited information about it. He called on the ministers to consistently teach about the gifts.

Other reasons he pointed out were the fact that the clergy in this generation are not digging deep enough but are comfortable in the superficial and are unavailable, always distant from their congregants and those who actually need God.

The GPCC president admonished churches not to fear to operate in the supernatural because God’s heart is with it and people must evidently see and hear its operation to attract many to God.

GPCC President Advocates For Unity Among Churches

The President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, who also serves as the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, has called on the leadership of all churches in Ghana and worldwide to make deliberate efforts to unite.

He made this clarion call on Friday, August 30, 2024, during the All Ministers and Wives Conference (Western Regional session) held at the Assemblies of God, Word of Life Auditorium, Takoradi.

Apostle Nyamekye illustrated the positive impact of unity in the body of Christ. Whilst comparing the effects of divisiveness, he invited the President of The Apostolic Church Ghana, Apostle Dr. Aaron Ami-Narh, and the Chairman of the Christ Apostolic Church International, Apostle Samuel Frimpong, to join him on stage.

The GPCC President explained that the three churches – The Apostolic Church Ghana, Christ Apostolic Church International, and The Church of Pentecost – are all descendants of the Anim-McKeown church operations. However, the misunderstandings that led to the splits had greatly hurt the cause of the gospel.

He thanked God that after many years, they have settled their differences and decided to work in unity.

Chairman Nyamekye took the opportunity to call on churches worldwide to end all forms of rivalry and unite to properly pursue the mandate that God has given them. According to him, denominations are just strategic ways of reaching all kinds of people. Therefore, denominations should not divide the Church into factions because they are all one people in Christ Jesus.

Apostle Nyamekye also cautioned ministers against whipping up sentiments, especially religious sentiments, in the run-up to the 2024 general elections. He admonished prophets who receive revelations about the outcome of the impending elections to desist from publicly declaring them to prevent chaos.

Present at the service were Rev. Stephen Wengan (General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana) and Bishop Emmanuel Botwe (Christian Faith Church International), both National Executive Council Members of the GPCC.

Others included Apostle Immanuel Tettey (General Secretary of GPCC), Apostle Sylvester Arhin (Executive Council Member, The CoP), and Rev. Yaw Osei Dankwa (General Secretary, CACI), among others.
