Great Investment Is Required To Build Great Institutions — Apostle Eric Nyamekye

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost and President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), has emphasised that great investment is essential for building strong institutions, urging Christians to commit their time, resources, prayers, and the diligent study of God’s word to every aspect of their lives.

Speaking on the topic “Great Investment Is Required To Build A Great Church” during a live broadcast of the ‘Special Evening Service’ on PENT TV on Sunday, July 6, 2025, Apostle Nyamekye stressed that excellence in any organisation does not happen by chance but is the product of intentional commitment and sacrifice.

To illustrate his point, he referenced 1 Chronicles 22:5, which describes the extensive preparations King David made before his death for the magnificent temple his son Solomon would later build for the Lord.

“Great investment is required to build any great institution, any thriving vocation, or any lasting and fruitful relationship,” he stated. “When you are careless about your marriage, you cannot expect it to be meaningful. Likewise, if you neglect your business and fail to pay attention, it will not flourish.”

He continued: “In the same way, without great investment in building the church, we will not have it as powerful as Jesus intended.”

Drawing insights from Nehemiah 4:3, the GPCC President encouraged Christians to pay attention to the structural integrity of whatever they are building. He underscored the strong and solid foundation of the Church, affirming that Jesus Christ, the Rock, has been its foundation from time immemorial (1 Corinthians 3:11; 10:1-4), and refuted the belief that Peter is the foundation upon which the Church is built.

“Be confident that the Church of God will stand the test of time as long as Jesus remains her Rock and foundation,” he assured.

Apostle Nyamekye explained that Jesus Christ, as the Rock, is dependable (Hebrews 13:5-6; 2 Corinthians 1:19-20; 2 Timothy 4:16-18). He likened Christ to a concrete foundation that supports and strengthens the entire structure.

“All of us, as living stones, come to Him—the Living Stone, the Rock of Ages—to draw strength from Him, yet His strength never diminishes,” he said, referencing John 1:14-16. He encouraged Christians to remain continually connected to Jesus to draw from His strength, using the life of Samson as a cautionary tale.

“It is dangerous to go days and weeks without connecting to the Source, studying the Bible, and praying, because out of His fullness we have all received grace,” he warned.

“I want you to draw your strength from the foundation and drink deeply from Jesus Christ, the Rock. Without this investment, you cannot build your own spiritual house,” he concluded.

Mind Your Words – Apostle Nyamekye Cautions Christians

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has called on Christians to exercise restraint and wisdom in their speech, stressing that words possess the power to either build or destroy, to reflect one’s faith or betray it.

Delivering a sermon titled, ‘BeCareful What You Say’ on Sunday, July 13, 2025, during a thanksgiving service held in honour of the newly elected President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Mr Albert Kwabena Dwumfuor, and his national executives at the Alajo Central Assembly of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Nyamekye urged believers to ensure their speech reflects the dignity and responsibility of their identity as children of God.

‘A worthy walk is one that reflects the Christian’s exalted position as a member of God’s community,’ he stated, adding, ‘We are not called to live for ourselves. Our words and actions must bring glory to God.’

Drawing from Mark 15, Apostle Nyamekye highlighted the example of Jesus Christ, who, though falsely accused, chose silence over self-defence.

‘The tongue is restless; it always wants to speak,’ he said. ‘But Jesus gave no reply. That silence wasn’t weakness; it was strength. Sometimes, silence is the loudest proof of your confidence in God.’

He encouraged Christians to cultivate patience and quietness, describing them as essential allies in emotional discipline.

Quoting Luke 21:19, he said, ‘To possess your soul, you must have a calm and controlled spirit. If you truly want to manage your emotions and remain in control, embrace patience and quietness.’

Apostle Nyamekye warned that speaking without forethought could cause irreparable harm, not only to others but also to oneself.

‘Your words reveal your intent. You and your words are one. What you say can either pave the way for success or entrap you in needless conflict,’ he cautioned.

Referencing Job 15:6, he added, ‘Your own mouth can condemn you; your lips will testify against you. That’s why you must ask: What do I want to say? When should I say it? Where should I say it? And how?’

He reminded the congregation that people often remember words more than appearances or titles, saying, ‘People won’t hate you for what you wear. They’ll hate you for what you say. Even if you speak the truth, where and how you say it can make it wrong.’

Apostle Nyamekye also urged believers to be discerning about their audience. Citing 2 Samuel 18:19–20 and Esther 1:16–17, he underscored the importance of timing and context.

‘Whenever you wish to speak, consider who is present. Your audience matters. Your timing matters. Truth spoken out of season can be as harmful as a lie,’ he pointed out.

In a final caution, he described the tongue using the biblical imagery found in James 3, calling it ‘a fire,’ ‘a deadly poison,’ and ‘a restless troublemaker.’

Among those present at the service were Mrs Mary Nyamekye (Wife of the Chairman), Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh (Executive Council Member and PEMEM Director), Apostle Dr Deudonne Komla Nuekpe (Executive Council Member and La Area Head) and his wife, Juanitta; Apostle Dr Brigadier-General Benjamin Godson Kumi-Woode (Director General of Religious Affairs, Ghana Armed Forces); Rev Dr Lawrence Tetteh; Pastor Atto Rockson; and Rev Hilda Ashie.

Also in attendance were Hon. Kwame Asare Obeng (MP for Gomoa Central), Nana Kweku Dei (former GJA President), Mr Yaw Opoku Agyemang (Director of Radio, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation); some members of the GJA, traditional rulers, and well-wishers.

Step Out And Display Christ To All – Apostle Nyamekye Urges Believers

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has called on Christians to deeply appreciate the miraculous gift of salvation through Jesus Christ and to respond by dedicating their lives to His service, without expecting immediate rewards.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Peaceful Co-existence Conference, held from Wednesday, July 9 to Friday, July 11, 2025, at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh, Apostle Nyamekye underscored the importance of wholehearted commitment to the work of God.

He stated the need for the introduction of more ministries in the Church, noting that as the Church continues to grow, its ministries must also broaden to effectively reach more people.

‘We must become all things to all people so that by all possible means, we might win some for Christ,’ he stated.

Apostle Nyamekye urged Christians not to remain idle while unbelievers perish. He encouraged members of The Other Sheep Ministry to use wisdom and discernment in reaching out to people of other faiths, drawing them to the Lord.

He reminded participants that any pursuit of excellence and significance requires effort and perseverance, saying, ‘The path the Church has called you to walk will demand determination and courage. It takes tremendous discipline to live a life worthy of a disciple so as to please God.’

According to the Chairman, not everyone is willing to work for God, as such work often lacks immediate and tangible rewards. However, he stressed that the eternal value of serving God far outweighs any earthly gain. He concluded by expressing heartfelt gratitude to the leadership of The Other Sheep Ministry and assured them of the Church’s unwavering support in their mission.

Apostle Nyamekye Urges Believers To Reflect Their Divine Identity Through Godly Conduct

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost and President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches (GPCC), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has called on Christians to reflect their divine identity through godly conduct in every aspect of life.

Speaking during a communion service on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the Abeka Central Assembly, Apostle Nyamekye provided an in-depth explanation of the Church’s established Rules of Conduct, asserting that members of the church are part of God’s household, redeemed and sanctified by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Quoting 1 Timothy 3:14–15, he urged believers to live in a way that draws others to Christ, stating, ‘We should conduct ourselves so that outsiders will want to join the family of God.’

He added:‘Everyone born again is bought by His blood. As members of this household, our conduct must reflect that holy heritage.’

Apostle Nyamekye outlined key areas of Christian conduct, beginning with personal devotion. He encouraged members to set aside daily time for prayer and meditation on the Word, referencing Psalm 1:1–2.

On corporate worship, he advised believers to prepare spiritually through fasting, especially on Fridays and birthdays, and be punctual at church, stating, ’If you arrive in church late, do not greet others; sit quietly and prepare your heart.’

Addressing family life, he reminded parents of their duty to raise children in the fear of the Lord, citing Joshua 24:15. He also encouraged members to support their pastors as both leaders and friends.

On communal living, Apostle Nyamekye urged believers to treat the church as their spiritual home, love one another, and avoid gossip or disrespectful speech.

He also spoke on worship etiquette, encouraging reverence, attentiveness, and heartfelt praise.

Touching on sexual ethics, he quoted Hebrews 13:4, affirming the importance of chastity and marital fidelity. He also called for integrity in business, urging members to avoid dishonest practices and harmful substances like alcohol, cigarettes, and narcotics (Proverbs 21:6).

‘Be the best father, mother, teacher, student, and be exemplary everywhere you go,’ he charged members of the church.

Also present at the service were Mrs Mary Nyamekye, wife of the Chairman; Apostle Samuel Osei Asante, Executive Council Member and Kaneshie Area Head, with his wife Elizabeth; Pastor Paul Danso of the Abeka District, among others.

The Church Of Pentecost Committed To Achieving Universal Healthcare In Ghana – Apostle Nyamekye Asserts

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has reaffirmed the church’s commitment to achieving universal access to quality healthcare in Ghana. He made this declaration during the commissioning of the state-of-the-art Pentecost Hospital in Bolgatanga, the capital of the Upper East Region.

The newly inaugurated 35-bed facility, equipped with AI-supported medical technologies, was officially opened on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. The event drew a distinguished gathering of traditional leaders, government officials, healthcare professionals, and other key stakeholders.

In his address, Apostle Nyamekye, who also serves as President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), expressed the church’s gratitude to God for the opportunity to contribute to national development through healthcare, saying, ‘We are committed to ensuring universal access to quality healthcare in Ghana.’

He revealed that The Church of Pentecost currently operates 12 healthcare facilities nationwide, comprising four hospitals and eight clinics, which collectively serve over 234,000 outpatients annually. These facilities are staffed by 1,199 dedicated healthcare professionals.

‘Currently, five additional health facilities, including a Specialist Hospital in Accra, are under construction,’ Apostle Nyamekye disclosed. ‘In 2024 alone, the church contributed GH₵10.7 million to support healthcare needs across various levels of the church.’

Beyond healthcare, Apostle Nyamekye pointed out the church’s broader social impact, including investments in education, water and sanitation, agriculture, skills training, and security infrastructure.

In education, the church operates 109 educational institutions, made up of 104 basic schools, four senior high schools, and one university, stating that in 2024, the church spent GH₵17.2 million to support the educational pursuits of its members.

On water and sanitation, he reported that from 2019 to 2024, the church installed 239 mechanised boreholes in underserved communities, benefiting over 110,000 people.

He also mentioned ongoing social intervention projects, including a modern correctional facility in Damongo (adding to two others in Ejura and Nsawam) and a new police station in Kawampe, all awaiting commissioning.

‘These interventions are not born out of abundance,’ Apostle Nyamekye stated. ‘We are inspired by the words of our Lord Jesus Christ: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’ (Acts 20:35).

He further explained that these initiatives are part of the church’s broader vision under the ‘Possessing the Nations’ agenda, launched in August 2018. This vision seeks to transform society through Kingdom values and principles.

‘A key component of this agenda is leveraging our social ministry to foster national development in collaboration with government and other stakeholders,’ he said, adding, ‘At its core, this vision aims to raise faithful disciples of Christ who will impact their world with righteousness.’

Apostle Nyamekye concluded by reaffirming the church’s belief that Christians are called not only to worship in temples but also to serve God’s purpose in society, an ethos that continues to drive the church’s development efforts.

You Are A Wife Of A Diplomat On Assignment – Apostle Nyamekye To Pastors’ Wives

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has adviced ministers’ wives to view themselves as partners on a diplomatic mission alongside their husbands, who serve in the full-time ministry.

He indicated that just as a diplomat’s spouse shares in the responsibilities and representation of their partner, so too should ministers’ wives embrace their unique calling within the church.

Drawing a parallel between full-time ministry and ambassadorial service, Apostle Nyamekye explained that a minister’s wife, though not officially appointed, is covered by her husband’s spiritual mandate. As such, she is expected to support his role, much like the Levitical priesthood of old, where the family served together in sacred duties.

Speaking on the theme, ‘The Church of Pentecost Brand of Ministerial Call: The Role of the Minister’s Wife’ during the closing session of the three-day Ministers’ Wives Conference at the Pentecost Convention Centre in Gomoa Fetteh, Apostle Nyamekye encouraged the women to see themselves as co-labourers in ministry.

‘Embrace your role as the wife of a diplomat. Let us advance the frontiers of God’s Kingdom together until Christ returns. We must not grow complacent. This is a divine assignment, and we have been privileged to be called,’ he said.

He cautioned against comparing The Church of Pentecost’s ministry model with that of other denominations, noting that the Church’s approach is unique and should be respected as such.

Using biblical examples such as Jezebel, Abigail, and Pilate’s wife (2 Kings 9:30; Matthew 27:19; 1 Samuel 25:28), Apostle Nyamekye urged the women to cultivate good character, maturity, wisdom, and tact in their interactions with the presbytery and congregation.

‘Sometimes, silence is the best response. Quietness can bring peace,’ he advised, while encouraging them to evaluate their words carefully before speaking, especially in moments of provocation, by asking: What do I have to say? When should I say it? Where should I say it? And how should I say it?

He warned against what he termed ‘Jezebelic tendencies’ – attitudes that are manipulative, immoral, or seek to usurp authority. “Don’t be a Jezebel. Strive instead to be like Abigail or Pilate’s wife. Character is the essential virtue for being a supportive partner in ministry,’ he emphasised.

Apostle Nyamekye concluded by encouraging the women to remain steadfast and committed, reminding them that the trials of today are nothing compared to the glory that awaits, saying, ‘Be a good wife. Support the ministry wholeheartedly. Let go of anything that hinders your calling and persevere in the work of the Lord.’

Apostle Nyamekye Challenges Believers to Seek Eternal Purpose web

Apostle Nyamekye Challenges Believers to Seek Eternal Purpose

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has underscored the need for spiritual transformation in today’s world, urging believers to embrace a life centred on Christ by moving beyond material pursuits to attain eternal significance.

‘A new life is not about money, jobs, houses, or cars,’ Apostle Nyamekye stated. ‘It is the life of God in man—eternal life that begins when we believe in Jesus Christ.’

He said this on Sunday, May 25, 2025, during a sermon he presented titled: ‘The World Needs a New Life,’ at the Merry Villas District in the La Area of the church.

Referencing John 14:6, he highlighted that true life is found in Christ alone. He further explained that without Christ, individuals are prone to immoral behaviours, as outlined in Galatians 5:19.

He stated: ‘Without Christ, you cannot bear good fruits; the fruits of the Spirit.’

Drawing from 2 Corinthians 4:10-11, Apostle Nyamekye indicated that the life of Christ should be evident in every aspect of a believer’s life, saying, ‘Our worldly body will perish, but the life of Christ in us should be revealed in our speech and conduct so that others may come to know Him.’

He stressed the importance of preaching the message of new life systematically, citing 1 John 5:12 and John 20:31. According to him, there are two kinds of people in this world: children of God and the others, revealing that if a person dies in their sin, there is no repentance for them.

Apostle Nyamekye also highlighted the significance of Gospel Sundays, encouraging believers to share their testimonies and preach the gospel as if addressing those outside the church.

‘We are reminded to preach the gospel and tell of the salvation message of Christ; how you have been saved from your old life into a new one,’ he noted.

He called on church leaders to equip members with the necessary tools to evangelise effectively. He bemoaned that most Christians do not know how to bring people to Christ. ‘As leaders, we should make intentional efforts to teach our members how to win souls,’ he advised.

Concluding his message, Apostle Nyamekye challenged believers to make soul-winning a personal mission, saying, ‘We must make it a habit to bring at least one soul to Christ.’
