The Bimpong-Egya District of The Church of Pentecost in the Twifo Praso Area has dedicated its Central Assembly church building to the glory of God. The service was chaired by the Area Head, Apostle Lawrence Otu-Nyarko, with support from the District Minister, Pastor Abraham Gyabaah.
The Assembly was opened in 1964 by the late Pastor Yaw Frimpong, then Twifo Praso District Minister, after an evangelistic outreach. Worship began in a school building with 20 members, led by Presiding Elder Zechariah Djam Eklo, assisted by Elders Yaw Kumah, Daniel Kuleke, and Wisdom Abochie. After Elder Eklo’s passing, Elder Kumah took over leadership.
Elder Kumah later donated land at “Aunty Ruth,” where a mud structure – half roofed with aluminum sheets and half with thatch – earning the nickname “skirt and blouse” was erected. In 1987, the presbytery acquired a new land from Akuapem Mampong and built another mud structure, with roofing logs provided by the late Opanin Kwesi Dompey.
A permanent building project began in 2017 under Elder Isaac Trekpa and the then District Minister, Rev. Isaac Joe Adusei. In 2019, the Assembly received a Head Office grant during the tenure of Rev. Vincent Ephraim Amegah. Following the creation of Bimpong-Egya District in August 2019, Pastor Gyabaah and his family pushed the project forward, supported by Apostle Otu-Nyarko, who continued the work initiated by his predecessor, Apostle David Nii Addo-Pappoe.
The completed building, costing GH₵268,400, features washrooms and offices for accounts and records. Funding came from Headquarters and Area grants, District and Local offerings, and donations from individuals, including Apostle Isaac Nii Kotei Djani and wife Mary, Pastor Gyabaah and wife Evelyn, Hon. David Vondee (MP for Twifo Atti Morkwa), Hon. Ebenezer Obeng Dwamena (NPP Parliamentary Candidate), and KWASERK Company Ltd.
Preaching on “The Essentials of a Dedicated Building” from Zechariah 2:1-5 and Hebrews 9:3-5, Twifo Praso District Minister, Pastor Frank Larbi, urged members to preserve God’s presence in His church. Apostle Otu-Nyarko commended the congregation for their commitment and encouraged them to care for the facility.
The event was attended by the Area pastorate and wives, community chief Togbe Ringo Gottah, and other dignitaries.
