The Elmina Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Lawrence Oduro-Nyarko, has urged all Christians to remain connected to the Holy Spirit, describing Him as the lifeline and the ultimate source of power for the Church.

Preaching on the theme, “Experiencing the Unleashed Power of the Holy Spirit”, and drawing from Acts 1:8, Apostle Oduro-Nyarko explained that on the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit descended with freshness and divine power to empower the Church for its mission.

He made this passionate call during the Elmina Area’s monthly prayer gathering, “Adom Bere”, held on Tuesday, 27th May 2025, at the Central Auditorium in Elmina. The event brought together members from the Elmina Zone, which includes the Elmina, Abee, SSNIT Flat, and Essaman Districts.

According to Apostle Oduro-Nyarko, the primary purpose of the Holy Spirit’s outpouring was to equip the disciples with power for evangelism.

“The power given to the believer is not for personal gain or ambition, but to make Christ known to the world,” he emphasised.

He further stated that the Church cannot be effective in its mandate without the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit.

“A Church without the presence and manifestation of the Holy Spirit is merely an association,” he stressed.

Drawing lessons from the early Church, he noted how the disciples, after receiving the Holy Spirit, could not remain within the confines of their meeting places but went out boldly to proclaim the gospel. He challenged modern-day believers to do the same — to rise beyond the four walls of the church and be unleashed to spread the good news with boldness.

Apostle Oduro-Nyarko also highlighted the significant roles the Holy Spirit plays in the life of the believer. He described the Spirit as a Helper, Guide, and Renewer of minds, who empowers believers in times of difficulty and confusion.

“The Holy Spirit provides divine direction when believers find themselves at life’s crossroads,” he said.

“He brings renewal and transformation to those who remain yielded and connected to Him at all times.”

In concluding his sermon, he outlined practical ways to experience the unleashed power of the Holy Spirit, which include prayer, fasting, worship through spiritual songs, and deep study of the Word of God.

“If you truly desire to experience the nature of God — His faithfulness, mercy, love, and kindness — then dig deeper into His Word, for He has revealed Himself to all who diligently seek Him,” he declared.

Also present at the prayer meeting were Pastors Ebenezer Ayivi Okoampah, Chris Ameyaw, Daniel and Mrs. Grace Tetteh Matey, Prince Augustine and Mrs. Barbara Naomi Ababio, as well as Elder John Wettey Otabil (Area Deacon), and Elder Napoleon Annan, an Area Executive Member.
