Ashanti COP Donates Essential Items To KATH To Fight COVID-19 Pandemic

The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Committee (RCC) of The Church of Pentecost has donated some essential medical supplies to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi to complement the government’s efforts in curtailing the spread of the novel COVID-19 pandemic in Ghana.

The RCC Chairman, Prophet James Osei Amaniampong, led a team of Area Heads in the Kumasi Metropolis on Thursday, March 26, 2020, to present the items to the management of the hospital.

The items, worth GHS 23,000.00, include 45 Veronica buckets, 45 small buckets, 50 gallons of hand sanitizers, 20 boxes of carbolic soap and 50 packs of tissue paper.

In a remark, Prophet Amaniampong, who is also the Area Head for the Asokwa Area, said that the various branches of the church in Kumasi thought it prudent to donate the critical items to the hospital in the wake of the outbreak of the deadly disease in Ghana.

He added that the donation will enable the hospital which is playing a significant role in the fight against the disease in the region to deliver quality health care to its clients and also enhance the safety of the staff.

Receiving the items, the Chief Executive Officer of KATH, Dr Oheneba Owusu-Danso, commended The Church of Pentecost for the kind donation which, he said, was very timely.

He said that the items will go a long way to complement the safety measures the hospital has put in place to protect its staff and patients from being infected by the novel virus.

According to him, the outbreak of COVID-19 has had a toll on the facilities in the hospital. He said that currently, about 3,000 bottles of hand sanitizers and liquid soaps are used every week at the hospital.

Dr Oheneba Owusu-Danso appealed to the public to continue to observe regular hand washing, use nose masks, hand sanitizers and to keep social distance as much as possible. He further requested the church to continue to pray for the nation to stem the spread of the disease.

In attendance were Apostles Abraham Lincoln Angoh (Bompata Area Head), Michael Collins Asiedu (Suame Area Head), Samuel Antwi (New Tafo Area Head), Emmanuel Kwasi Osei Ofosu (Abuakwa Area Head) and John Budu Kobina Tawiah (Kwadaso Area Head).
