The Asante Bekwai Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Fred Tiakor, has concluded 27 years of meritorious service following a retirement service held in his honour on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the M. K. Ntumy Memorial Temple in Bekwai-Amoafo.
Apostle Tiakor, widely recognised for his role as the sixth Director of the Children’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, a position he held for eight years, was commended for his significant contributions to the growth and development of the ministry.
The service, officiated by Apostle Vincent Anane Denteh, Director of the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM) and Executive Council member, was graced by the presence of several area heads, including Apostle Gideon Obeng Darko Debrah (Atonsu Area Head), Prophet David Kankam Dediitor (Obuasi Area Head), Apostle Abraham Swanzy (Dormaa Ahenkro Area Head), Pastor Samuel Avornyor (Director, Children’s Ministry), Prophet James Osei Amaniampong (Retired), Honourable Joseph Osei Owusu (former First Deputy Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament), Elder Dr Ebenezer Tago (Deputy CEO of Volta River Authority), traditional leaders, officers of the Bekwai Municipal Fire Service, members, friends, and loved ones.
Apostle Abraham Swanzy, Dormaa Ahenkro Area Head, spoke on the theme, ‘Following God Wholly,’ referencing Numbers 14:24. He expounded on the meaning of wholehearted devotion to God, highlighting how God singled out Caleb for his unwavering faith and obedience: ‘But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring him into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.’
Apostle Swanzy enlightened the congregation on how Enoch was taken from the earth by God due to his lifelong commitment, despite life’s challenges, which earned him a place in Heaven. He commended Apostle Fred Tiakor for his years of fruitful ministry, inspired and empowered by God.
The Berekum Area Head emphasised that a key motivational factor in one’s walk with God is to remain efficient in His Word—a reminder of the great things God has done in the lives of others, serving as a case study for one’s present journey.
He further elaborated on how the 85-year-old Caleb could boast of strength to fight battles even more than in his youthful years—a strength he defined as spiritual potency. He urged ministers not to underestimate this strength, even when their physical abilities decline.
He concluded by referencing how God preserved ‘retirees’ like Simeon and Anna the Prophetess in Luke 2 for His divine purpose, stating: ‘God found the righteous hands of Simeon to bless Jesus, and this was a result of walking fully with Him.’
The prayer session was led by Apostle Gideon Obeng Darko Debrah, Atonsu Area Head.
Pastor Samuel Avornyor, Director of the Children’s Ministry, read a tribute from the Children’s Ministry Directorate in honour of Apostle Fred Tiakor and his wife, Mrs Patience Tiakor. Tributes also followed from the Asante Bekwai Area Women’s Ministry, the Area Presbytery, Area Pastorate, and the General Council.
Apostle Fred Tiakor and his family took to the podium and, with hearts full of gratitude, thanked God for 27 years of effective and efficient ministry. He expressed appreciation to The Church of Pentecost for the opportunity to fulfil his calling, and to his family, friends, and loved ones for their unwavering support.
He served in Amasu, Jema, and Atomic Hills Districts before being appointed Director of the Children’s Ministry. His final station was Asante Bekwai, where he served as Area Head for five years.
