The Sunyani Area of The Church of Pentecost has bid farewell to Apostle James Gabriel and Mrs Felicia Quardson, the Sunyani Area Head, who have served in the full-time ministry for 39 solid years.
The colourful service, which took place at the Sunyani Estate Central Auditorium and officiated by Apostle Isaac Nii Kotei Djani (Tema Area Head/Executive Council member), was marked by joy, gratitude, and testimonies of a life well spent in ministry.
Together with his wife, they have served dutifully in Nyanyano District (1986-1991), Otumi District (1991-1996), Adeiso District (1996-2001), Tarkwa West District (2001-2006), Apremdo District (2006-2011) and Maamobi District (2011-2012). When he was called to the office of Apostleship in 2012, he was sent on missions to The Gambia, where he served for five years, from 2012 to 2017. He was recalled home and stationed at Agormanya as Area Head from 2017 to 2021, and, finally, to Sunyani Area from 2021 to 2025.
Throughout his remarkable ministerial journey, Apostle Quardson served in various strategic roles, leaving behind an indelible mark on the church. His service record includes Children’s Ministry Leader for Greater Accra Region, Oda Area and Tarkwa Area, respectively. He later became the National Secretary for the Children’s Ministry. He was also appointed as the Regional Coordinating Committee (RCC) Coordinator for Bono and Ahafo regions, GPCC Chairman for Bono region. His stirring leadership at different levels of the church has influenced generations and contributed significantly to church growth.
Preaching the sermon at the service on the theme, ‘It is all grace’ from 1 Corinthians 15:9-10 and John 1:16, Apostle Djani emphasised that the call to full-time ministry is purely by the grace of God. He explained that while all men are equal, grace distinguishes individuals for special assignments in God’s vineyard. Highlighting different forms of grace – common grace, saving grace, sufficient grace, and sustaining grace, he urged ministers and believers alike to value their calling as a gift of God’s grace.
He further encouraged all present to accept Christ as their Lord and Saviour to access the saving grace, which brings eternal life. He also assured Apostle Quardson and his family that the sustaining and sufficient grace of God would keep and strengthen them in this new phase of life after his active ministry.
In an interview with Pent News, Apostle James Gabriel Quardson entreated young ministers of God to rely on the promises of God. He said that God will surely take care of His servants if they serve him faithfully.
The colourful gathering drew ministers and members from across the Sunyani Area and beyond. Distinguished guests included past and present leaders of the church, among them were Apostle Emmanuel Gyesi-Addo, the immediate past International Missions Director, and Apostle Matthew Larbi Wettey (Retired).
The ceremony was not only a retirement but also a celebration of grace, faithfulness, and enduring impact, as the Sunyani Area glorified God for the life and ministry of Apostle James Gabriel Quardson.
