The Achimota District of The Church of Pentecost on May, 9,2020 visited and made a timely donation to Becky’s Home, an orphanage located at Senya Bereku in the Central Region of Ghana. This is the second time the District has reached out to the Home.
Becky’s Home was established on April 25, 2012, to provide quality education, effective health care delivery, good accommodation and nutritious food for orphans and other vulnerable children.
The Home, which is currently made of fifty-four (54) children, is being run by Elder Seth and Deaconess Vivian Asiedu.
To the glory of God, these children are now new Christian converts who fellowship with The Church of Pentecost. This initiative has led to the conversion of some staff who happen to be Muslims and have now joined the church.
The Achimota District led by the District Minister, Jonathan Kofie and in the company of some presbyters of the district, donated items worth Eight thousand and five hundred Ghana cedis (GH¢ 8,500) to the Home.
The items donated include bags of corn, rice beans, gari, boxes of Biscuits, assorted drinks, diapers, boxes of sardines, cooking oil, detergents etc.
Pastor Jonathan Kofie, in a remark, intimated that “the tendency for people to forget the vulnerable and the needy in this coronavirus era is very high. This is the time we must show genuine love to the needy.”
He urged believers not to neglect the orphans, widows and the needy but rather to make use of every opportunity to help and be a blessing to them.
Again, he explained that this kind gesture by the Church is in fulfilment of the Bible and in furtherance of the five-year strategic vision of The Church of Pentecost, dubbed Vision 2020.
The Management of the Home expressed their profound gratitude to the church for their support since the establishment of this Home.
Becky’s Home is calling on Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO’s), Corporate bodies, Churches, Government institutions and individuals to support them to get potable water for domestic use since the Home currently relies on Water Tankers for water supply.
Also present at the event were Elder Samuel Jaymills (District Executive Member), Mrs Regina Kofie (Wife of the District Minister), Deaconess Obiri Yeboah (District Women’s Ministry Leader) and members of the District presbytery.
