The church must be spiritually and morally healthy because it is the pillar and foundation of the Truth, Apostle Mark Obeng Andoh, Sunyani Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, has said.

According to the Sunyani Area Head, the truth of God, which is the revealed word of God through Jesus Christ, has been entrusted to the church to be made known to the world. However, this would be difficult if the church herself does not put into practice the word of God by modelling godliness in the world.

Apostle Mark Andoh, who is an Executive Council Member of the church, said this on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, during the Heads’ Session of 7th Ministers and Wives’ Conference (MWC’20) at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh.

Espousing the message of Paul to Timothy in 1 Timothy 3:14-15, Apostle Andoh explained that godliness is reverence for God and a life of holiness in the world. “Godliness and a godly lifestyle are the two legs on which your spiritual and moral life stand,” he said.

He further noted that the spiritual life of a person is not known or seen by others but God alone, on the other hand, the moral life of a person is evident for all to see.

“In other words, your moral life is what people see and how they will perceive your spiritual life because if you have a good spiritual life, it manifests through the good moral values you exhibit,” he said.

Apostle Andoh stressed that, as custodians of the Truth, Christians, who are the church of God, must embody the word of God and reflect His glory in and outside the church auditorium.

Referring to the Chairman’s explanation of Glory (Kabowd in Greek) as weightiness, honour, riches, splendour, fame, excellence, and magnificence, he asserted that if Christians do not embody these qualities, then the church may be seen or regarded as “poor” or “weak.”

The Sunyani Area Head also mentioned that misconduct and disorderliness weaken the church and causes her to lose the glory of God. “If Christians fail to exhibit godliness, the church cannot uphold the truth. We cannot preach the truth if our lifestyles do not conform to the Word. Our messages will not carry any weight!” he bemoaned.

He, therefore, called on Christians to lead exemplary godly lifestyles and make themselves sanctified vessels for the Lord’s use, adding that: “God knows everything about our private and public lives including our motives. So, the true record (report) of our service, leadership and our Christian life is in heaven.”

Apostle Mark O. Andoh also advised Christians, particularly church leaders, to work on building a healthy spiritual life which would translate into a healthy moral life so that they would become receptacles of the glory of God.

He concluded by saying that: “In possessing the nations, God has His part to play, but we also have to avail ourselves as sanctified vessels to be used by God; for God can use any sanctified vessel for His glory!”
