The Teshie-Nungua Area of The Church of Pentecost has awarded scholarship to 40 young people drawn from the various districts in the Area, who are brilliant but needy to enable them to pursue various courses at the Pentecost University College (PUC).

The scholarship scheme is part of the Church’s Vision 2023 agenda of possessing the nations through building the capacity of young people for the future.

The package was presented to the beneficiary students during the Area Monthly Prayer session held at the Fred Stephen Safo Memorial Temple on Friday, October 5, 2019.

The Area Head, Apostle Dr Alfred Koduah, paid glowing tribute to the Chairman of the Church, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, for his vision which, he said, will go a long way to improve upon the lives of young persons in the Church.

He was also grateful to the managers of the Teshie-Nungua Area Pentecost Educational Scholarship Scheme for meticulously screening the various applicants.

He encouraged the beneficiary students to give off their best in order to maintain the scholarships for the next four years. He cautioned that they would lose the package if they brought the name of the Church or the Area into disrepute or failed to excel academically.

A representative of the students expressed their gratitude to the leadership of the Church for instituting the scheme. They indicated their resolve to learn hard to bring laurels to the Church.

“The scholarship is helping to relieve parents of the burden of school fees,” a beneficiary said.

The Teshie-Nungua Area is expected to expend a total of GHC 800,000.00 on the 40 students for the next four years.

The Chairman of the Area Scholarship Committee, Pastor Dr Nicholas Darko, said the Area is doing a lot in terms of education. He said the Pentecost Skills Development Centre, hitherto known as Women’s Resource Centre established by the Area is into ICT, Catering and Fashion Design training. He said that interested candidates can also pursue courses in the school and become successful in life.

Pastor Dr Darko urged those who are interested to study at the PUC to apply for the scholarship.
