The Church of Pentecost, Tamale Area, held its maiden Indigenous Conference on Saturday, July 19, 2025, bringing together over 700 indigenous members to foster unity, deepen faith, and reignite passion for evangelism among Northern believers.

Describing the event as a “dream come true,” Apostle J.B.K. Tawiah, Tamale Area Head, said it was ‘more than just a program—it was a move of God’, calling indigenous believers to rise and take their place in God’s Kingdom agenda. The conference, themed “Unleashed to Win Your Brother,” emphasized reaching their own people with the gospel.

In his keynote message, Apostle Tawiah called for unity, equality, and mutual respect across tribal lines. Citing Revelation 7:9 and Acts 17:26, he reminded participants, ‘because we all have God for our Father, the gospel belongs to all of us regardless of our background. Our tribes and languages should not alienate us from the work of God.’

Overseer Lukman Abukari, one of only three Dagomba pastors in The Church of Pentecost, stressed cultural sensitivity and relational ministry. Speaking in Dagbani, he urged, ‘stand with your people in their times of sorrow and celebration. That is how you earn the right to speak the gospel into their lives.’

He echoed Martin Luther King Jr., saying, ‘love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend,’ and encouraged believers to cherish their languages and heritage as tools for witness.

Elder Peter Baaba shared his testimony of transformation from fear and superstition to bold faith after encountering Christ.

Elder Alfred Yentumi Kumah, Tamale Area Deacon, emphasized sacrificial giving as core to Christian worship.

‘When you give, you become like God who gave His own Son for our salvation,’ he declared.

The event concluded with powerful prayer and spiritual impartation, leaving attendees empowered, encouraged, and unleashed for mission.

Also in attendance were Mrs. Agatha Tawiah, ministers and their spouses from the Area, as well as chiefs and elders from the various districts.
