Master Gideon Cobbinah of the Takoradi Area has emerged winner of the 2026 edition of The Church of Pentecost Children’s Ministry’s Preacher Kid competition, held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at the PIWC Atomic Auditorium in Accra.
The grand finale brought together five young preachers who had successfully progressed through the various stages of the annual competition to battle for the ultimate prize.
The finalists were Benaiah Kobby Mensah of Bolgatanga, Nana Ama Nyameye Nkrumah Gyapong of Dansoman, Gideon Cobbinah of Takoradi, Loida Onyimah Quofi Boame of Nkwanta, and Afia Aseda Antwi of Sunyani.
The Preacher Kid competition, which begins at the local assembly level and progresses through the District, Area, Regional and Zonal levels before culminating in the national grand finale, is designed to nurture children in the study and practical application of the Word of God through preaching.
At this year’s grand finale, the contestants delivered two messages: one based on The Church of Pentecost’s 2026 theme and another drawn from any of the approved sub-themes.
After the presentations and assessment, Master Gideon Cobbinah was adjudged the overall winner.
He received a television set, a hamper, certificate, medal and cash prize for his outstanding performance.
Miss Afia Aseda Antwi of Sunyani placed first runner-up, followed by Nana Ama Nyameye Nkrumah Gyapong of Dansoman as second runner-up, Loida Onyimah Quofi Boame of Nkwanta as third runner-up, and Master Benaiah Kobby Mensah of Bolga as fourth runner-up.
The event was attended by the Patron of the Children’s Ministry, Prophet David Kankam Beditor, and his wife; Apostle Boakye Agyarko, Haatso Area Head, who represented the General Secretary; Apostle Daniel Sey, Dansoman Area Head; Pastor Samuel Avornyo, Children’s Ministry Director, and his wife; Elder Lawyer Alfred Aidoo, Deputy Director; members of the National Executive Committee of the Children’s Ministry, and other invited guests.
The competition continues to provide a platform for children across The Church of Pentecost to develop their knowledge of Scripture, confidence in public speaking and ability to communicate biblical truths effectively.
