The Odorkor Area of The Church of Pentecost, under the leadership of Apostle Patrick Aseyoro, has officially begun this year’s Officers’ Retreat, also referred to as Apostolisation.

The event, which is under the theme: “Equipping the Church as an Army to Possess the Nations” (Hebrews 13:20-21, Ephesians 4:11-12, Ephesians 6:10-11), has the immediate-past Chairman of the Church, Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah (retd.) and the Dansoman Area Head, Prophet E. K. Appiah, as the main speakers.

Opening the event at the Odorkor Zone yesterday, Apostle Aseyoro commended officers for their great service to God and the Church. He said that officers of the Church have been very instrumental in all aspects of the Church’s tremendous growth.

“Every minister was once a member of the Church. It is our officers who nurtured us in the Lord and recommended us for the full-time ministry. Ministers and officers must therefore continue to work together to build on the great successes the Church has chalked thus far,” he said.

He also noted that the Apostolisation aims to teach and equip the officers for greater impact at their various assemblies and, therefore, urged participants to avail themselves for a fresh move of the Holy Spirit.

Delivering a presentation on the topic: “Mobilising the Squad for Effective Impact,” the Odorkor Area Head stressed the need for members of the church to be mobilised in the pursuit of the Great Commission (Possessing the Nations).

He explained that the Church remains the only institution through which God intends to possess the nations. To be able to achieve this, he noted, there was the need for members to have a better understanding of the Church and her mandate. This, according to him, was why the last three annual themes of The Church of Pentecost focused on throwing more light on the Church.

“Jesus taught his disciples for three years and then commissioned them to go and make disciples of all nations. In the same way, having spent the last three years teaching about the Church, it is now time for the Church to release her members to go and possess the nations for the Lord,” he said.

Apostle Aseyoro further explained that the Church enters the world on two fronts – as ambassadors and as an army. However, in 2022, the Church is focusing on the latter, hence the theme: “Equipping the Church as an Army to Possess the Nations.”

Touching on the army of God, the Odorkor Area Head said the only requirement for enlistment into God’s army is for one to be born again.

He said that unlike in the recruitment process of security agencies where people could be disqualified for their physique and other reasons, God’s criteria for enlistment is open to anyone (whosoever) who believes in His Son, Jesus.

He further said that every soldier in the army must play an active role in the Kingdom business. For this reason, church members should be mobilised into smaller groups (squads) for greater impact.

As soldiers of Christ, Apostle Aseyoro urged them to be obedient to Jesus, the Commander-in-Chief, and to be loyal to Him and the Church even to the point of death.

“We have been enlisted into the Lord’s Army by the blood of Christ. So, let us wear our uniform (the full armour of God) at all times, for that is our authority as soldiers,” he charged.

This year’s Officers Retreat (Apostolisation) of the Odorkor Area is being held at two zonal centres – McCarthy and Odorkor.
