The ‘Twifo for Christ’ gospel crusade, an annual evangelistic outreach organised by the Twifo Praso Area of The Church of Pentecost, begun on Tuesday night with 32 souls being won for Christ. Twenty-seven of the new converts were baptised in water, with three receiving the Holy Spirit baptism.

This year’s crusade, which is under the theme: ‘Arise, Take Up Your Mat and Walk’ (John 5:8, Mark 2:11), is taking place at the Twifo Hemang Arts and Cultural Centre in the Central Region. It will end on Friday, February 21, 2025.

Opening the crusade, Apostle Lawrence Otu-Nyarko, the Twifo Praso Area Head, emphasised the transformative power of Christ in restoring lost souls.

‘The greatest miracle is not physical healing, wealth, or success; it is the transformation of a sinner into a follower of Christ.’

Drawing from Genesis 2:15-17, he highlighted how God created man in His own image and placed him in the Garden of Eden, filled with everything needed for life. However, God gave a command not to eat from a particular tree. Unfortunately, the devil deceived man, leading to the fall of humanity.

‘The devil is still around deceiving people with false doctrines,’ Apostle Otu-Nyarko warned. ‘Yet, Jesus loves you and has come to cause you to take up your mat and walk!’

Referencing Romans 5:6-8, he explained that sin has brought humanity to a state where spiritual death, sickness, and a desire for evil have become the norm.

‘We are not sinners because we sin, but because we were born into sin,’ he said, adding; ‘The fall of man has set us at a default where sin is enjoyed.’

Other speakers for the crusade include Pastor Adjei-Nimako Darkwa (Agona Swedru Area Head), Pastor Frank Larbi (Evangelism Leader, Twifo Praso Area), and Elder Bismark Amoah (Leader, Bohye Prayer Centre).

The first day of the crusade saw a massive turnout of 749 attendees, including area pastorates, officers, and members. The event is expected to bring more people to Christ as the crusade progresses.
