25th Pentecostal World Conference Held In Canada

The triennial gathering of Pentecostals around the world dubbed “Pentecostal World Conference” (PWC) has taken place in Calgary in the Province of Alberta, Canada.

The four-day conference which was on the theme, “Spirit Now,” opened on August 27 and ended on August 30, 2019. It attracted over 5,000 delegates from 74 nations across the world. This year’s conference was the 25th since 1947.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the PWC, Dr Prince Guneratnam, said the conference theme was the answer to the challenges the disciples of Jesus Christ face.

“We are living in a world that is experiencing Bible prophecies of the end times. If there ever is a time we need the anointing of the Holy Spirit, it is now.

“We are living in challenging days. Satan knows the Lord is coming soon. As such you can be a victim if you are not filled with the Holy Spirit.

He said that being full of the Holy Spirit would help Christians stay away from sin. He added that the work of the Spirit of the Lord was evident from the various biblical accounts.

According to Dr Guneratnam, Sampson who was full of the Spirit of the Lord was able to move and carry an entire city gate.

He indicated that Christians without the fullness of the Holy Spirit could have issues, saying, “We face spiritual battles that are far beyond human abilities. The Holy Spirit which is the Father’s promise is what empowers us to conquer such battles.”

On his part, Dr Billy Wilson, Co-Chair of Empowered21 Conference, said the world was entering a season of supernatural shifts. According to him, “God is on the move and He is shifting lives and ministries and as such Christian leaders should be ready to accept the offer God has for them so they can continuously move with Him.

“Open up to what God is doing even if it does not make sense. Something fresh is coming your way, just open up and God will use you to serve your generation of young people coming up,” he said.

Dr Wilson added that the new move and shift in the house of God would be intergenerational and global. “The generation of today need fresh repentance, fresh revelation of Jesus Christ, fresh healing, fresh anointing and fresh understanding,” he stated.

Other speakers at the conference included Bishop Charles Blake of USA, Faytene Grasseschi of Canada, Dr David Wells, Dr.Younghoon Lee from South Korea, Evangelist Nick Hall of USA, Bishop Dag Heward Mills from Ghana, Dominic Yeo of Singapore and Rev. Prof. Paul Frimpong Manso of Assemblies of God, Ghana.

A number of Ghanaian delegates from The Church of Pentecost and other churches under the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) attended the conference.

Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah, the immediate past Chairman of The Church of Pentecost who is Africa Co-Chair of Empowered21 Conference and a key minister of the WPC was also in attendance.

Pastor Richard Adjei, the Resident Minister of PIWC Calgary, welcomed the Ghanaian delegates to Calgary.
