The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Gyau Oboubi, has revealed that one of the two fundamental duties of humanity is to obey God’s commands.

He made this revelation at the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), West Hills, Kasoa Area, during an apostolic visitation to the church in the company of his wife, Korkor, and children on Sunday, December 22, 2024.

He preached a powerful sermon titled, ‘The Whole Duty of Man,’ drawing his main text from Ecclesiastes 12:13: “Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.”

The chief scribe underscored humanity’s ultimate purpose—revering God and walking in total obedience to His word.

Apostle Oboubi began by emphasising that God’s commands are supreme and require complete obedience from believers, saying, ‘God does not want partial obedience but total submission to His word.’

He further explained that true spiritual maturity is not evidenced by outward displays of praise but by a consistent and resolute walk in obedience to God’s will.

The General Secretary also highlighted the life-sustaining power of Scripture, referencing Deuteronomy 32:45-47, which teaches that God’s word is not just idle but is life itself.

He urged the congregation to treasure the Scriptures as the foundation for righteous living and to diligently teach them to the next generation.

Drawing inspiration from Hebrews 1:1-3, Apostle Oboubi reminded the congregation that God has always spoken to His people, first through the prophets and now through His Son, Jesus Christ. He stressed the need for believers to listen to God’s voice and respond with love and obedience, as this is the clearest demonstration of one’s devotion to Him.

He addressed the challenge of prioritising religious activities over obedience. Quoting 1 Samuel 15:22-23, he reiterated that no religious ritual can substitute for obedience to God’s word.

‘To obey is better than sacrifice,’ he noted, challenging the Church to align its actions with God’s directives.

The service also featured a vibrant time of worship and fellowship.
