The Women’s Ministry of the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Sakumono, on Friday, December 26, 2025, donated assorted items and cash to the New Life Orphanage Home at Nungua as part of activities marking the District’s Christmas convention.
The items presented included bags of rice, cooking oil, tinned fish, bottled water, assorted soft drinks, milk, biscuits and snacks, soaps, sanitary pads, clothing, and other essentials to support the children’s upkeep at the home. In addition, the ministry made a cash donation of GH¢5,000 to help cater for the needs of the inmates.
Presenting the items on behalf of the District, the wife of the Resident Minister, Dr Mrs Theresah Fianko-Larbi, assisted by the wife of the Associate Minister, Dr Salomey Mensah-Tandoh, said the gesture was inspired by the love of Christ, adding that Jesus Christ died to bring peace to the world.
She explained that the theme for this year’s Christmas convention was “Jesus Christ, Spirit Conceived, Gospel Unleashed.” She noted that the ministry deemed it important to demonstrate that unleashed love by reaching out to the vulnerable in society and helping to meet their basic needs.
Dr Salomey Mensah-Tandoh offered prayers for the children and staff of the orphanage on behalf of the District, committing their lives and future into God’s hands.
Responding on behalf of the Home, the Head and owner, Nii Afotey Botwe II, expressed profound gratitude to the Women’s Ministry for the kind gesture and their continuous support over the years. He recounted that he started the orphanage about 25 years ago and, by God’s grace, it now houses over 92 children.
He disclosed that some of the children are currently in tertiary institutions, including universities and nursing training colleges, while others have been enrolled in vocational skills training and public schools within the community. He added that the home also supports some disabled persons and occasionally offers food and shelter to individuals who walk in seeking help.
Nii Afotey Botwe II thanked the ministry for bringing hope and joy to the children, especially during the Christmas season.
