The Queen Mother of Okumaning, Obaahemaa Kyeraa II, was a special guest at the sports and fitness event dubbed: “Sports Fiesta”, which was organised by the Okumaning District Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost on September 22, 2018.

The event, which took place at the Okumaning Methodist School Park, was organised to foster love, comradeship, and unity among members.

Among other things, the event also provided the newly-created Okumaning District with an opportunity to enhance relations between the Church and the Okumaning Community and enabled members to engage in physical fitness exercises.

The Sports Fiesta drew people from all walks of life in the community and other neighbouring towns such as Apraku, Breku, Bredu Afiafiso and Aboabo. Members of other church denominations also trooped to the event venue in their numbers to catch a glimpse of the historic event.

The event began with the “Jesus March”, where members marched through the principal streets of the Okumaning Township. This was followed by various activities such as Aerobics, Lime and Spoon Race, Sack Race, Thread and Needle Challenge, and Football, among others.

Addressing the gathering at the event, Obaahemaa Kyeraa II encouraged women to be supportive of their husbands.

She said women must be gainfully employed so that they could support their husbands financially. She admonished the women to be humble and put to practice what they are taught at Women’s Ministry meetings.

On his part, Nana Semtia, the Ahenemmahene of Asuom, who also graced the occasion, advised the gathering to remain united.

He urged those in distress to continually present their request to God in prayer and trust Him to attend to their requests.

He also commended the Church for undertaking such a noble initiative aimed at ensuring harmony between the Church and the community. He ended his remarks by soliciting the support and prayers of the Church for the community.

At the end of the event, 5 souls were won to the glory of God.
