God Heals, But Only On His Terms – Chairman

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost (COP), Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah, has stated that although God is indeed able to heal any disease or infirmity, healing only takes place according to His sovereign will.

He stressed that God is able to cause healing and miracles to happen at any point in time and anywhere if only He wills.

Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah said this on January 5, 2018, at the just-ended PENSA Ghana Conference dubbed: “Paramenoun En Christo” held at the Pentecost Convention Centre.

Speaking on the topic: “Divine Healing” as a tenet of The Church of Pentecost, the Chairman said that God has given all believers the power to heal others of their infirmities, however, He has also given some Christians special ability to heal and perform miracles, known as the gift of healing and the gift of miracles.

Explaining the difference between healing and miracles, he said that healing takes place when God endows an individual the special ability to heal others of their infirmities through divine insight. A miracle, on the other hand, takes place when God breaks natural laws in order to meet the need of an individual. He added that God does not often break natural laws unless He deems it ultimately necessary or to demonstrate His sovereignty.

Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah explained that both healing and miracles, however, are not automatic and can only take place according to the sovereign will of God. He said that during Jesus’ earthly ministry, although He healed many of their infirmities and performed many miracles, He did not heal everyone He came in contact with.

“This is why I don’t believe in advertising healing or miracles. There should not be a special service set aside for miracles and healings because God can come in at any time to do that. God is sovereign, and this is why He sometimes heals people who do not even believe in Him,” he stated.

The Chairman also noted that although Paul was working miracles and healing others of their diseases he was himself nursing an infirmity which he had prayed about on countless occasion to no avail. This, the Chairman said, proved that it is God who decides when and where healing or miracles could happen.

He further noted that Timothy had a stomach problem but Paul could not heal him. Again, when Theophilus, who was part of the people assisting Paul in his evangelism enterprise, got sick, he was left behind because Paul could not heal him, yet Paul went about healing others of their diseases. Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah, therefore, refuted the doctrine being propagated by some people that true Christians do not get sick.

“Getting sick does not mean that you are not a person of God or you are not a person of faith. Anyone who breaks natural laws would definitely get sick. So no matter who you are, you could get sick and die,” he said.

“The fact is that God can heal wherever and whenever, but according to His Sovereign will. He works miracles at any time and where He wants to do them. Sometimes, He even does them at a time we do not expect. When we do not get this we will always limit the power of God,” he added.
