The Tarkwa Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Yaw Antwi, has urged Christians to look for life among the living.

Speaking at the opening session of the Area 2018 Easter Convention on the theme: “Why Are You Looking For The Living Among The Dead?” at the Tarkwa Senior High School Park, Apostle Antwi pointed out that “life is not something; it is someone and that person is Jesus.”

Reading from Luke 24:4-9, he said that one painful thing is to search for something without knowing where exactly it is positioned or placed. “Unfortunately, that is what happens to most people in life as they look for very important things in the most unlikely places,” he stressed.

The former Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC) General Secretary noted that people travel every length of the world in search of life and security. He said that some actually search scriptures and go to church, yet do not find Him [Christ] simply because they have refused to search the right places and are only doing these things as a memorial to pacify their conscience.

He emphatically stated that Jesus Christ is not a historical figure, rather He is life itself; neither is He just a miracle worker as in the days of Rev. McKeown, but more so in these days as well.

Explaining further, Apostle Antwi said that men value life because it defines their existence. He said although human beings know they will die one day, they naturally never like it when someone predicts their soon death. “This is because man longs to live thus, man is so concerned and fearful of physical death (separation of body from spirit),” he pointed out.

He noted that the quality of the Christians’ life depends on the source of that life, saying, “If the source of it is another man or certain presupposed spiritual authority, then it will soon waver.”

He therefore called on believers to let the source of their life be Jesus, who is not just a life giver but life itself. “He is not just a hope giver, He is hope itself,” he added.

“Life and death are two contrasts; you cannot get life where there is death, just as you cannot get death where there is life, but Jesus is life,” he stressed.

Concluding his sermon, Apostle Samuel Yaw Antwi mentioned that, “Without Jesus Christ, the whole humanity can be defined as a valley.”

The convention brought together all the districts in the Area for the first time in so many years under one roof.
