Deaconess Nana Obaapanin Abena Acheampomaa Biraso Retired

The Mamponteng District of The Church of Pentecost in the New Tafo Area on Sunday, November 18, 2018, organised a retirement service for Deaconess Nana Obaapanin Abena Acheampomaa Biraso of the Mamponteng English Assembly.

Deaconess Abena Acheampomaa Biraso, who is the Queenmother of the Akwamu Clan of the Mamponteng Traditional Area, has served as an officer of the Church for the past 22 years.

The event which took place at the Mamponteng Central assembly was officiated by the District Minister, Pastor Jerry Kusi Acquah. It was attended by a host of royals, chiefly among them were the Chief of the Mamponteng Traditional Area, Nana Saase Ayeboafo II (a member of the Church) and the Queenmother, Nana Kyerew Akenten II.

Deaconess Nana Acheampomaa Biraso was born at Mamponteng in the Ashanti Region on 3rd July, 1951, to Opanin Kwaku Assim, a cocoa farmer and Obaapanin Akosua Bimpomaa, both deceased. Trained as a professional teacher at the erstwhile Bekwai S.D.A Teacher Training College in 1971, she taught for over 40 years.

She converted into The Church of Pentecost in 1991 and was baptized by immersion in the same year. She was ordained as a Deaconess at Asokwa in 1996 by Apostle D. K. Annan (now deceased).

Deaconess Nana Acheampomaa served as the Old Tafo District Women’s Ministry leader for eight months before the creation of the Ahwiaa and Mamponteng districts. She was the Women’s Ministry Secretary in Mamponteng District from 2005 – 2011, and is currently the District Welfare Secretary.

In a sermon, Pastor Jerry Kusi Acquah applauded the retired deaconess for her meritorious service to God and humanity. He advised officers of the Church to emulate her good qualities.

The New Tafo Area Head, Apostle Samuel Antwi, presented a citation to Deaconess Nana Acheampomaa Biraso for her dedicated services to the Church. Other gifts were presented to her by the Area and District Women’s Ministry.
