The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah, on Sunday, June 17, 2018, dedicated the newly-constructed Customs Assembly church building of the New Aplaku District in the Kasoa Area.

The building, which was constructed at a total cost of GH₵ 535,500.00, has been named after the late Apostle Samuel K. Ofosu (Retd.) who was laid to rest on Saturday, June 16, 2018.

The dedication and naming service was attended by Apostles Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi (General Secretary), Joseph Assabil (Achimota Area Head and Executive Council Member), Samuel Antwi (Kasoa Area Head), Wilberforce Kwame Nkrumah Agyeman (Bolgatanga Area Head), Prophet Robert Dentu (Nkawkaw Area Head) and Ebenezer Appiah (New Aplaku District Minister), among several others.

Delivering the sermon at the event on the topic “The Christian Walk And Building”, Apostle Assabil said that the Christian journey could be likened to putting up a building.

He explained that, just like constructing a building, there are specifications and requirements that ought to be met in order for an individual be fully built up in the Christian faith.

Using Matthew 7:24-27, 1Corinthians 3:10-12, Psalm 119:100 and Colossians 2:6-7 as scriptural references, he stated that obedience to the word of God is key in Christian living because it is what is required for an individual to mature in the Lord.

He stated that it is not enough to just listen to the word of God, but one must go beyond hearing to understand what the Lord is saying to them.

The Achimota Area Head further noted that having heard and understood the word of God, it is imperative for the Christian to do what has been said. He stated that anyone who hears the word of God and does not practice it can be compared to the foolish builder in Matthew 7:24-27 whose building could not withstand external pressures.

Apostle Assabil, therefore, charged Christians to listen, understand and apply the word of God they have been taught saying that “Obedience is simply defined as hearing and doing combined.”

Concluding his sermon, Apostle Assabil stated that Christians are a work in progress and that the challenges and tragedies they face in life are part of the process of building their faith in the Lord.

Speaking at the event, Apostle Antwi said that the Area leadership, in consultation with the Executive Council, deemed it appropriate to name the building after the late Rev. Samuel Ofosu because of the instrumental role he played from the beginning to the completion of the project.

He said that it was the departed minister who cut the sod for the commencement of the project in 2008 when he was then the Dansoman Area Head. At the time the Customs Assembly was under his jurisdiction.

Apostle Samuel Ofosu joined the Custom Assembly as an active member of the Church after he retired from active service in 2008. Even in retirement, he made significant financial contributions to the project and saw to the progress of the work at the various stages of its construction till he passed on to glory.

In their response, Apostle Osei Bonsu (Retd.), on behalf of the family of Apostle Samuel Ofosu, expressed gratitude to God for the great thing He has done for the family. He was also grateful to the leadership of the Church and the area for this great honour done the late minister.

Among the family members present was the widow, Mrs Victoria Ofosu. The Samuel Kwaku Ofosu Memorial Temple was officially completed and dedicated a day after Apostle Ofosu (Retd.) was laid to rest.
