The Achimota District of The Church of Pentecost held a farewell service in honour of Pastor Jones Awuah Afrifa and family on Sunday 12th August, 2018 at the Achimota Central Assembly.
Pastor Jones Awuah Afrifa, having served diligently and faithfully in the district for six good years, has now been transferred to the Dunkwa Area as an Area Head. He was the Achimota Area Secretary during his service in the Area.
Under his leadership the Achimota District saw significant growth in membership, spirituality of members, and tithes and mission offering. A number of projects were also constructed, while three new assemblies were created.
The Achimota Area Head, Apostle Joseph Kwame Assabil, in a sermon on the theme: “Take care of the flock over which I have made you shepherd,” admonished church leaders to carefully lead the flock of God.
Taking his scripture readings from Ephesians 4:7-15; Acts 20:17-28; 1 John 2:20-27, Apostle Assabil urged believers to remain steadfast in the faith.
“The church has called us as ministers because God called us first, our service is to God first then the church. Positions do not make us mighty but our humility does,” he stated.
He bemoaned the rate at which leaders are preoccupied with lording their authority over people instead of serving them. “If the next generation fails to walk in humility and service, the church is doomed,” he warned.
The Area Head charged church leaders not to entertain bitterness, hyper busyness, and laziness but constantly intercede for the flocks of God.
He commended the twin sons of Pastor Afrifa, Elders Albert Afrifa Antwi-Boasiako Snr. and Albert Afrifa Antwi-Boasiako Jnr. for their role in their father’s ministry. He then encouraged ministers’ children to do likewise.
Apostle Assabil prayed for Pastor Jones Awuah Afrifa and family asking for more grace for the next phase of their ministry.
Present at the ceremony were Apostle Peter Ayerakwa (Retd), Prophet Adobah (Retd.), Mrs. Rebecca Assabil (wife of the Area Head), ministers in the Area and their wives. Also present was the Deputy Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Deaconess Elizabeth Sackey.
