The National Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Burkina Faso, Pastor Windeyide Alain Quedrago, has entreated Ministers of the Gospel to manifest the unconditional love of Jesus Christ to humanity so that they can bring many to the saving knowledge of Christ.
Pastor Quedrago made the call in a sermon he delivered on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the Heads’ Session of the 16th Extraordinary Council Meetings underway at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), at Gomoa Fetteh.
Speaking on the topic, “Leadership Motivated By Love” with John 13:1 as his main text, he said Jesus loved the world to the point of laying His life for humanity.
“When love comes from inside we are able to love and be good spiritual leaders. The church of today cannot offer transformational leadership if we [the leaders] are not motivated by love,” he said.
He added: “As Christian leaders, love must motivate us to lead and guide our people. It is love that moved God to give us His only begotten Son.”
Pastor Quedrago said Christian leaders must be motivated to love in three phases: the love of Christ for us, our love for Christ and our love for our neighbours.
Reading from 1 John 4:19, he said it is not man who loved God, but God who first loved man by giving Christ to the world as a ransom for the sins of humanity.
He asked them to let the love of Christ be at the centre of their ministry by extending it to the flock they lead and humanity as a whole.
Reading from 2 Corinthians 5:14-15, he indicated that a good understanding of the love of Christ is essential to the life of the Christian. “As leaders of the church we are compelled to show our love for Christ. Love must be our main motivation when we are serving others. If our ministry is motivated by the love of Christ we will be very good servants of Christ and effective leaders of the church.
“You may be a very good Christian and dynamic preacher, but if you don’t have love you cannot be a good leader,” he stressed.
Pastor Windeyide Alain Quedrago explained that a service which is full of love of God is the one that God pleases (1 Corinthians 13:1-3).
He called on ministers to always seek to develop their leadership abilities and also develop their love for God, saying, “If our love for God grows, we will look like Him and we will be effective leaders to possess the nations.”
Talking about the washing of the feet of the disciples in John 13:1–17 and Jesus reaching out to the marginalised, the Burkina Faso National Secretary said it is not possible to be a good leader if one does not understand this principle of Christ.
“To be able to feed and lead the flock, you must be able to have the love for the flock. If we are motivated by the love of Christ and our love for Christ, this relationship will help us in our relationship or love for others,” he added.
