Jesus Alone Is Worthy To Lay Down His Life For Us – Apostle Dr Walker

The Rector of the Pentecost University College (PUC) and Executive Council Member of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr Daniel Okyere Walker, has said that Jesus Christ is the only one who is worthy to lay down his life for the redemption of the world.

In a televised sermon on PENT TV on Saturday, April 11, 2020, on the topic, “Do Not Weep: Christ Died That You Might Live” 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10; Revelation 5:1-5, he stated that Jesus alone was able to open the scroll and break the seal to unfold the events of the world and offered himself to save humanity from a wretched and hopeless situation.
According to him, no one in heaven and on earth, not even the 24 elders and the four living creatures, was worthy to open the book.

He explained that Apostle John, who received the revelation, wept at the turn of events. But as he was weeping, one of the 24 elders told him to stop weeping, because Jesus, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, had prevailed to open the book and loose the seal.

The PUC Rector noted that the fact that God Himself was holding the book speaks volumes. It tells us that God is the supreme authority over what is happening in our world, he said.

“A lot of things are happening that we cannot comprehend – it is all in the hands of the Almighty God because He holds the future in His hand; He holds the destiny of the world in His hands; He holds everything about us in His hands; He holds the nations in His hands,” he said.

He added: “Sometimes it gets to a time in the affairs of men where we try all humanly possible, but there is no solution anywhere. With this Coronavirus disease, man has done his best but there is no hope anywhere; the situation looks hopeless as people are crying everywhere. But thanks be to God that when all hope is gone there is a saviour.

“Do not weep. Ghana, do not weep; church, do not weep for there is somebody, someone who is worthy, someone who has been given all authority, power and honour, his name is Jesus, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, is worthy to open the book and to loose the seal so that he can unfold the events of this world.

“If you are scared of the future, I want to introduce Jesus Christ to you, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Messiah, the Saviour of the world, the one who died that you and I might live. He alone is worthy,” he stated.

He expounded that Jesus was worthy to open the book because he has triumphed over sin (1 Peter 2:24), conquered this evil world (John 16:33), conquered Satan and evil forces (Colossians 2:13-15), conquered all rule and authority and power (1 Corinthians 15:24), and has conquered death (1 Corinthians 15:25-26).

He encouraged believers to be still and not to be troubled, because Jesus has overcome the world. “He has overcome everything you are going through a long time ago. Don’t be troubled about COVID-19, Christ has overcome it,” he stressed.

Touching on what took place in hades when Jesus was buried, Apostle Dr Walker indicated that Jesus went to hades to seize the keys of hades and death from Satan, saying, “In his grave, he was working on our salvation so that we will overcome death as well.”

This year’s Easter celebrations, which is under the theme: “Jesus Christ Died That I Might Live” (1 Thessalonians 5:9-10), is also being streamed live on the official Facebook page of The Church of Pentecost (@thecophq).
