The Ho Area Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost has organised a breast cancer sensitization and free screening programme for women in the Area.

The seminar, which was held to commemorate the 2019 Breast Cancer Awareness Day, was organized in collaboration with the Ho Teaching Hospital.

The colourful event, which took place on October 8, 2019 at the Dome Central auditorium, was patronised by over 200 women from the Area.

Speaking at the event, the wife of the Ho Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Mrs Elizabeth Ahiakor, encouraged women to prioritize issues of their health. “God requires a healthy body through which His Spirit can work,” she said.

She explained that a healthy body is very vital. She, therefore, advised women to embark on regular health check-ups to ensure that their health is optimum and to take steps where necessary to treat any ailment. She also urged them to share the knowledge gained from the seminar to help promote the health of all women.

The leader of the medical team, Dr Nelson Affram, spoke extensively on the causes, symptoms and treatment options for breast cancer, and called for a regular check-up for early detection and early treatment.

Touching on self-examination, the President of Breast Cancer Survivors in Volta Region, Mrs Patience Ethel Nutakor, illustrated how to practically self-examine the breast. She stated: “This is a necessary requirement to optimum health and should be done periodically.”
