The Teshie-Nungua Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr. Alfred Koduah, has inspired Christians to allow themselves to experience the resurrection power of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Apostle Dr. Koduah said this on the evening of Good Friday when he preached on the topic, “Why Jesus was crucified” at the Fred Stephen Safo Temple where the English speaking assemblies and Pentecost International Worship Centres (PIWCs) in the Area are meeting for their Easter convention.

According Apostle Dr. Koduah, the theological reasons why Jesus Christ was crucified are that, He had to die to save mankind according to 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; He was pierced for our transgression so we could have peace (Isaiah 53:5); to destroy the work of the evil one (1 John 3:8), and for Him to make a onetime sacrifice for all (Hebrews 10:10).

Other reasons for Christ’s crucifixion, according to Apostle Dr. Koduah, are that He was perceived to have challenged the authority of the Roman empire; challenged the authority of the devil in the minds and heart of people; challenged the authority of the Sanhedrin which comprised of the high priest, the chief priest, the Pharisees, the Sadducee, the elders and some older priests, all numbering 71.

Explaining why Jesus was crucified by the religious authority, Apostle Dr. Koduah outlined seven reasons as follows; His growing popularity, His perceived blasphemy and envy (Mark 15:10), the Sanhedrin thinking that He was breaking their Sabbath (Mark 2:14-17), He associating Himself with social outcasts, He proclaiming that He will destroy the temple in a day and rebuild it in three days, and He destroying the business of the Sanhedrin by overturning their tables.

“Jesus has declared on the cross that it is finished and when He made that declaration, the curtains that separated the Holiest of holies tore apart. For that matter, all our problems have been dealt by the Lord Jesus Christ; He bore it on the cross,” he said, adding, “His death has reconciled man back to God.”

Apostle Dr. Koduah encouraged Christians to make a deliberate effort to experience the power of the resurrection which gives life to any dead thing in life.

In a related development, speaking at the Nungua Zone Convention held at the Presbyterian Senior High School at Nungua, Apostle Dr. Koduah said the great sacrifice Jesus made is what has brought freedom to humanity.
