The Tarkwa Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr David Nyansah Hayfron, has proclaimed that only Jesus Christ holds the power to deliver humanity from the grip of death, emphasizing that life outside God inevitably leads to destruction.
Speaking during Day Three of the 2026 Easter Convention at the Nsuta Zone on Saturday, April 4, 2026, and preaching from Acts of the Apostles 4:7–12, Apostle Dr Hayfron stressed the eternal nature of life in God, contrasting it with death, which he described as a temporary but destructive force that entered humanity through disobedience.
“Life is in God, and because God is eternal, life is eternal. Death, however, is not eternal—it has a beginning and an end,” he stated, adding that death remains an enemy of humanity that God will ultimately destroy.
Apostle Dr Hayfron explained that death operates wherever there is an absence of life in God, likening it to darkness, which only exists in the absence of light. According to him, sin distances humanity from God, thereby exposing individuals to spiritual death.
Referencing the fall of man, he noted that although humanity was created mortal, God never intended for mankind to die. He explained that God’s instructions to Adam and Eve were meant to preserve life, but disobedience opened the door to death. He further cautioned against false teachings that contradict God’s word, drawing parallels to the serpent’s deception in the Garden of Eden.
Apostle Hayfron lamented that many believers today prefer messages that soothe their ears rather than confront sin, warning that such tendencies open the door for spiritual decline. He also criticized the growing influence of secular humanism, which, he said, promotes human reasoning above God while offering false assurances of success.
“Any development that ultimately destroys a person is not true development,” he stressed, highlighting the total depravity that resulted from the fall of man, which, he said, affects every aspect of human life.
Touching on the reality of spiritual death, he described individuals who appear outwardly successful but are inwardly empty, fearful, and restless. According to him, without Christ, humanity remains trapped in a cycle of unfulfilled pursuits, as people seek meaning through worldly pleasures and achievements that cannot satisfy the soul.
Drawing from the account of Book of Job, he illustrated that even the righteous may face trials, noting that Job’s suffering demonstrates that adversity can befall anyone. However, he emphasized that believers in Christ have a greater hope—assurance of eternal life and victory over death.
He concluded by urging Christians to deliberately cultivate their salvation through the Word of God, stressing that only through Jesus Christ can sin be overcome and true life attained.
