The Koforidua Area Head and Executive Council Member of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Mike Kwame Etrue, has admonished ministers to make waiting a cardinal part of their ministry life.
He gave the admonishment on Monday, September 2, 2024, when speaking to heads and their wives during the maiden September Heads and Wives’ Prayer Retreat at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoa Fetteh.
Apostle Etrue, who is also the Coordinator of the Eastern Regional Coordinating Committee, spoke on the topic, ‘The Place, Power and Practice of Waiting for the Christian Leader.’ He mentioned that there is a need for every minister to wait on God because they have no power by themselves, hence the only way they can do well in ministry is to rely on God for strength through waiting.
He explained that it is important for ministers of God to go into waiting because it helps them to reflect and learn, seek God’s guidance, minimize distraction, and refill their lambs with oil.
Teaching ministers how to practice waiting, drawing inspiration from the forbearers of the church, he mentioned daily and weekly practice of waiting (Sabbath for ministers), occasional personal retreats, waiting upon the Lord before major programmes like Easter and Christmas Conventions, and utilising annual leave periods as waiting seasons.
He indicated some of the challenges associated with waiting as the busyness of life and ministry, identifying an appropriate place, heavy workload, complacency and accustomed to activity.
Apostle Mike Etrue called on all ministers to model waiting to their members and pass it on to the next generation.
