As part of the Environmental Care Campaign of The Church of Pentecost, the Abura District of the Church in the Axim Area embarked on a clean-up exercise in the Abura community on Ghana’s 62nd Independence Anniversary [6th March].

The Church members drawn from the Youth, Men, and Women’s ministries swept the principal streets of the town and desilted the gutters.

The District Minister, Probationary Overseer Daniel Atuah, used the opportunity to educate the community members on environmental cleanliness through the Community Information Centres mounted at the various points in the community.

Reading from Deuteronomy 23:9-14, the district minister told both the church members and the community people that God is concerned about how they treat the environment. He explained that just as God directed the people of Israel to keep everything impure from their camp, God expects Christians to keep their surroundings clean.

Present to support the exercise were the Assemblyman and the Unit Committee Members of Ahanta-Abura Electoral Area.
