The Ho Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised a seminar for all District and Local Finance Secretaries in the Area.
The event, which took place on September 21, 2019, was held at the Ho and Anum zonal centres of the Area.
Reading from 2Timothy 2:13-15, the Ho Area Head, Apostle Moses Kwame Ahiakor, underlined the need for the church’s finances to be managed prudently.
“Handling the church’s finances is part of God’s agenda as well as a service to God. He has a purpose for touching and moving people’s hearts to offer. Hence, If we handle the monies as expected then God will approve our works,” he said.
The participants of the event were charged not to view their appointment as Finance Secretaries as a call by God and for this reasons they must diligently handle the monies of the church on behalf of the Lord.
He also advised them to pass on the skills and knowledge acquired from the training to others in order to maintain a high level of financial integrity in the church.
Overseer Daniel Dogbe, Elder Daniel Amartey (Area Accounts Officer), Elder Vincent Ametefe and Deaconess Benedicta Asumah, who were the resource persons for the event, took their turns to take participants through all the sampled Internal Audit Questionnaires for Area, District and Local Assemblies.
They also gave participants practical illustrations on how to fill an official Receipts, Tithes Closing Sheets, Payment Vouchers and other source documents of the church at the Local and District level. The cashless accounting system was also stressed vehemently.
As part of the event, the participants were allowed to ask questions for redress. The Area Head also cautioned participants about some of the findings and recommendations of the Area Auditors during the first half of the year.
In attendance were all the Area Executive Committee Members, District Ministers within both Zonal Centres, District and Local Financial Secretaries and Presiding Officers of the Districts.
