A section of the Spintex Road, one of the busiest roads in Accra, will be blocked to traffic Friday and Saturday to allow some construction work by engineers of the Ghana Water Company (GWCL).

The partial road block at the Manet Junction area will start from 6:00pm to 6:00am each day to allow the engineers interconnect pipe lines in the area to improve on water supply to Manet, Teshie and surrounding communities.

A statement from the GWCL Friday said the construction work will include cutting of the road to connect new pipes to the existing 32inch transmission line on the motor way.

The situation is expected to compound the usual gridlock on that stretch of the road.

The GWCL has thus cautioned commuters of the road of the danger of the road block, and asked them to “take note and comply with road diversionary signs to avoid any eventualities.”

“The portion of the road which will be affected will be reinstated immediately the work is completed,” the statement signed by the Director of Communications, Stanley Martey assured.

It said it regrets any inconvenience the civil works may cause to commuters.

Meanwhile, the GWCL has assured residents in the area that the works will not affect water supply to the area.
