The 11th edition of the National Media Ministry Seminar of The Church of Pentecost (COP) is currently underway at the Pentecost Convention Centre, Brofoyeduru, Kumasi.
The event was officially opened by the Asokwa Area Head, Apostle Ekow Badu Wood, on Tuesday, June 27, 2018.
In his opening address which he titled: “Spreading the Basic Message through the Media”, Apostle Ekow Badu Wood urged Christians to embrace modern technological innovations in order to accelerate the spread of the gospel message of Jesus Christ to unreached areas.
Using David’s battle with Goliath from 1Samuel 17:37 as a case study, the Asokwa Area Head narrated how David declined to use King Saul’s armour, which he termed “the modern technology” at that time because he (David) had not tested it.
However, after killing Goliath, with the sling, David realized the need for a sword for a finished work. The sword in this sense is the technology as at the time but he (David) abandoned it due to unfamiliarity.
Apostle Ekow Badu established that what the Church and the medium have in common is the task of propagation. He explained that whiles the media is a medium for propagating news, the Church is the medium for spreading the gospel.
He, therefore, encouraged the older generation of the Church, who may not be familiar with modern technology to adapt to it and also encourage the younger generation, who are steeped in the use of modern technology, to exercise their skills to make the Church relevant in this progressively-changing world.
Apostle Ekow Badu challenged the Media Ministry to play a major role in achieving the vision of the incoming-Chairman of the Church, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, to possess the nations through the propagation of the gospel message of Jesus Christ.
The Media Pastor, Apostle Dan Tackie, on behalf of the Media Ministry Committee, expressed appreciation to Apostle Ekow Badu Wood for such an insightful exposition.
The 11th National Media Ministry Seminar is arguably the most-patronised event since its inception having recorded an attendance of over 100 participants.
The participants would be taken through Radio Production by Theovision International and voice coaching. The Head of Counselling Unit at the COP Headquarters, Apostle Philip Osei-Korsah would handle Counselling at the event.
