The Berekum Area of The Church of Pentecost has ended this year’s 3rd Area Prayer Festival which took place at the Area Retreat Centre at Mpatasie, near Berekum in the Brong Ahafo Region.
The programme started on 23rd May, 2018 at Municipal level and was crowned on 25th May with the entire Area converging at the retreat centre. Adult membership recorded at the event was 3,470.
Speaking on the theme, “Jesus Christ, Our Healer” taken from Exodus 15:22-26, Mark 16:15-20 and Acts 10:38, the Area Head, Apostle Anthony Kingsley Miah, said Jesus Christ is the only accredited and authentic healer who is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Apostle Miah stated emphatically that healings are very common in the church today as it was in the times past, saying, “It is God’s pleasure to keep His children healthy or to heal them when they are sick.”
He noted that sickness can be caused by unhygienic practices, sin, the devil, fear and autoimmunity. He mentioned some of the conditions that can be used to facilitate healing as: repentance, holy living, enough rest, among others.
Apostle Miah further indicated that like the waters of Marah encountered by the Israelites, life may be bitter sometimes as a result of challenges in marriages, job, childbearing and many others. He however said that when Jesus is present in the situation, “He changes bitterness to sweetness, disharmony to harmony, disorder to order, disability to ability and disunion to union.”
As part of the programme, five Overseers in the Area, namely Frank Rockson of Brenyekwa District, Francis Wugban of Brodi District, Michael Bekoe of Seikwa District, Ernest Agyei of Amasu District and Solomon Azagisiya of Jinijini District, were ordained as Pastors.
