The Youth Ministry of Yennyawoso District in the New Tafo Area of The Church of Pentecost, on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 [May Day], held sports fiesta at Kings International School Park in Kumasi.
The event was aimed at fostering fellowship among the youth in the district.
Addressing the teeming youth, the District Youth Leader, Elder Samuel Akowuah Donkor, who also doubles as the Deputy Area Youth Leader, said the event was meant to release stress, fraternize among the youth, and above all win souls for Christ.
He, therefore, charged the participants to exhibit Christlike attitudes even as they engage in the various activities for others to perceive their good deeds and come to Christ.
Members from the seven local assemblies within the district engaged in various sports disciplines such as Egg race, 100 metres race, Lime and Spoon race, Ludo, Draughts, Football, among others.
The scene at the park was quite thrilling as the spectators from all the local assemblies sang and cheered their teams on to victory.
The football match, which was at the centre of attraction, saw a clash between Macedonia Assembly and Redemption Assembly at the grand finale. It did not come as a surprise though when the lads from Macedonia who exhibited dexterity throughout the tournament, eventually outclassed their opponent by scoring a lone goal to lift the trophy.
Paul Owusu Bempah from Macedonia was adjudged the Overall Best Player of the football tournament.
Certificates of honour were presented to participants who performed exceptionally in other disciplines.
The fun-filled event saw two persons giving their lives to Christ.
Present at the event were Elder Luke Obeng Acheampong (District Evangelism Leader), Elder Frank Agyapong (District Clerk), the District Youth Executive Committee Members, among others.
