From all indication and without any iota of doubt, one cannot but to agree with the immediate past Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr Michael Ntumy, that the just ended 43rd General Council Meetings of the Church was par excellent.
Though it was an election year, where a new Chairman in the person of Apostle Eric Nyamekye and some members of the Executive Council were elected to lead the Church, the entire process was absolutely peaceful without any anxiety, looking at the joy and the ecstasy that greeted the elections.
Apostle Dr Ntumy could not help but declare the event as “the most jubilant, joyous, celebratory Council Meetings” he has ever seen.
Filled with joy and emotions, the former Chairman stated: “With this jubilation happening in an election year –after an election, demonstrates nothing but the presence and the glory of God in His church. This joy has renewed the strength, the vitality, the vivacity of the Church and it is a sign that the Lord will be leading us to higher heights than we have ever imagined.
“For me, sitting back and looking at all this, I remember that I was in this same position 20 years ago. 20 years ago, when a young man came from France to attend a General Council Meeting and having in mind a name which I was going to vote for the position of Chairman, little did I know that it was going to myself,” he said.
Apostle Dr Ntumy who could not hold back his tears moved the entire Councilors, including the Chairman, Apostle Prof Opoku Onyinah to shed uncontrollable tears.
He took the minds of the Councilors 10 years back when he handed over the baton to the current Chairman, Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah, where he received a lot of insults, bashings and even curses, simply because some people did not like the candidature of the later.
“But 10 years later, the Lord has vindicated us. Today, I find tears running down my tears. And then I ask, what else could God have done with the Chairman of the Church which hasn’t been done?
“Looking around, what would the Church have expected of a Chairman than what has been achieved? My joy is great. And I consider my tears as a sacrifice of praise to the Living God who has kept me alive to see the glory of the Lord in this day. I praise the Lord for this and I rejoice in the goodness of the Lord.
“And I congratulate our beloved Chairman, Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah, on this amazing work that he has allowed the Lord to use him to do.
“If we are writing the history of the Church, I declare this period the Golden Age of the Church for the Lord has done so much to his glory.
“After the elections, I just said ‘Lord I’m 60 years now, please keep me alive for the next 10 years to see even the greater glory, the greater honour [and] the greater position of the Church,” he said amidst tears as the entire participants also joined in the weeping.
He used the opportunity to congratulate the Chairman-elect, Apostle Eric Nyamekye.
