A member of the Executive Council and Tamale Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle John Budu Tawiah, has encouraged believers to anchor their faith firmly in the saving power of Jesus Christ, describing His name as the only source of salvation, true life, and spiritual victory.
Speaking on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the Tishegu Central Assembly on the theme “Jesus Christ, The Name That Saves,” Apostle Tawiah drew inspiration from Acts 4:12 to affirm that salvation, God’s deliverance from destruction, is found solely in Christ. He explained that the early apostles consistently attributed every act of healing, restoration, and deliverance to the authority in the name of Jesus, a pattern that remains relevant to the Church today.
He noted that anyone who comes under the covering of Christ’s name receives salvation, saying, “That name does not only save us from eternal destruction but also gives meaning and purpose to our lives.”
Using passages such as John 14:6, John 10:10, and John 11:25–26, Apostle Tawiah taught that Jesus is the exclusive source of genuine life. He said the life Christ gives is not limited to eternal life after death but includes a meaningful and fruitful existence on earth. From 1 John 5:11–12, he stressed that eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.
Referencing John 3:16, he highlighted God’s unfailing love for humanity and assured the congregation that anyone who believes in Christ receives everlasting life. He further explained from Romans 8:10 that the righteousness believers enjoy is not earned by human effort but is granted through Christ. He added that life itself is a spiritual battle that requires divine strength and the power of Christ’s name to overcome.
Quoting Matthew 1:21, he emphasised that the name of Jesus delivers from the power of sin, declaring, “He is able to transform a sinner into a righteous person.” Drawing from 1 Timothy 1:15–16 and Galatians 1:24, he reminded believers that their salvation is also a testimony to the world, saying, “If the world is looking for evidence of God’s saving power, they should look at us.”
Apostle Tawiah noted that through Christ, believers have received freedom, peace, and purification through His precious blood, which has delivered them from the power of death. Concluding the exhortation with Acts 16:30–32, he called on individuals and families to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ for total salvation, reaffirming that Christ’s saving power extends to both individuals and entire households.
