Mr William Agyemang and his wife, Deaconess Mrs Mary Agyemang, have singlehandedly constructed and donated a fully-furnished church building to the Asofan English Assembly in the Achimota Area of The Church of Pentecost.

The new church building was dedicated on Friday,  January 31, 2025, by the General Secretary of the Church, Apostle Samuel Gyau Obuobi, with support from the Achimota Area Head, Apostle Joseph Danzerl.

The Agyemang family went beyond the construction of the church building by furnishing it with 200 customised chairs, a lectern, and musical instruments, ensuring the assembly is well-prepared for worship services.

During the dedication service, Apostle Obuobi delivered a sermon on the theme, ‘House of Prayer,’ highlighting the importance of maintaining prayer as the foundation of the church.

He referenced Matthew 21:12-13 to highlight Jesus’ intent for the temple to be a place of prayer for all nations, not a commercial centre.

‘The house of God is not a place for entertainment or business; it is supposed to be a house of prayer,’ Apostle Obuobi stated.

He added: ‘The very nature and character of the church should reflect prayer. At all times, the house of God should be prayerful.’

Apostle Obuobi also spoke on the transformative power of prayer, citing Acts 4:33: ‘In prayer, we receive great grace and great power. Grace, in this context, is the enabling power of God that comes upon the believer, enabling them to do what they ordinarily cannot do.’

He urged Christians to incorporate prayer into all aspects of their lives, including marriage, studies, health, and ministry.

‘If we want to see great grace and power at work, we must remain prayerful,’ he concluded.

The Asofan English Assembly is one of six local assemblies within the Asofan District of The Church of Pentecost. The district was established in 2019 after being carved out of the Ofankor District.

The dedication service was graced by several dignitaries, including Apostle Bright Nyamedor (Director, Ghana Evangelism Committee/Resident Minister, Petroleum Worship Centre), ministers from the area, and traditional rulers.
