The Pentecost Preparatory School, Daboya, in the Northern Region, has been awarded for placing 4th in the Nationwide Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC) Quiz Competition held recently. The school also came first in the Basic Education Certificate Examination for 2024 in the district.

During the climax of the Daboya Zone 2024 Christmas convention on Sunday, December 15, 2024, officials from the Ghana Education Service (GES) and some chiefs from Daboya joined the service chaired by the Tamale Area Head, Apostle John Budu Kobina Tawiah, to officially present the award to the school.

The award contained 50 tablets, two laptops, two projectors, 10 desktop computers, 10 electronic kits, four boxes of charging cabinets, 10 10-Bots, a modem, scanner, digital camera, two ceiling fans, and a UPS. These items were to be used to establish a computer lab for the school and the district.

Presenting the items, Mr Peter Awusi, who represented the District Director of Education, expressed the appreciation of the Daboya community to The Church of Pentecost for the establishment and support of the school. He praised the school for achieving this great feat for the district.

Chief Gapasowura Seidu Issah, who represented the Chief of Daboya, recounted the history behind the establishment of the school, a vision conceived by Pastor Solomon Ashaley Djani, the then District Minister. He stated that after much opposition and struggle, the school is now achieving many successes. He appealed to individuals and organisations to support the school.

Apostle J. B. K. Tawiah, on his part, advised the school authorities to ensure the proper maintenance and safety of the equipment to serve the intended purpose. He assured the community of the continuous support of the church to the school and the community.

The District Minister of Daboya, Overseer Joseph Lukeman Abukari, expressed gratitude to the Area Head for his tremendous support for the school.

As part of the event, a foundation stone was laid for a two-classroom block which is under construction at the school, and a handing over of one-bedroom house constructed by the Tamale Area for Elder Seidu Takorah, whose mud building collapsed on him in 2023. The family of the Elder and the community people were full of praise for the church for the gesture.

Meanwhile, 16 officers, made up of seven Elders, five Deacons, and four Deaconesses, were ordained during the service.

Present were Mrs Agartha Tawiah, wife of the Area Head, Elder Alfred Yentumi Kumah, the Area Deacon, Ministers for Damongo and Yapei districts and their wives, Deaconess Juanita Ayaric (Headmistress of the School), officers, and members of the Daboya District.
