The Aboom District of The Church of Pentecost in the Cape Coast Area has honoured 24 retiring officers for their years of dedicated service to the church at a Retirement Service, Awards and Dinner Night held at Aboom Central on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

The event, organised under the leadership of Pastor Abraham Nana Bamfo Oppong, brought together church leaders, traditional and public officials, family members, friends and well-wishers to celebrate the contributions of the retirees to the growth of the church and their communities.

Among the distinguished guests were the Oguaa Tufohen, Nana Kwame Edu VI, and the Cape Coast Mayor, Hon. George Arthur DC, alongside ministers of The Church of Pentecost from the Cape Coast Area.

A major highlight of the celebration was the presentation of profiles and interviews documenting the personal faith journeys, conversion experiences and years of service of the retirees. The presentations offered guests an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices, commitment and contributions of the officers across various assemblies, districts and ministries.

Some of the retirees had served the church for more than four decades. Elder William Ward-Brew was recognised for 43 years of service, while Elder Samuel Tachie-Menson had served for 42 years. Deaconess Mrs Helena Pobee, Deaconess Mrs Comfort Asibu and Elder Jonathan Kwame Kwaku each recorded 40 years of service.

Over the years, the officers had undertaken responsibilities in various ministries and committees, including the Women’s Ministry, Children’s Ministry, PEMEM, Witness Movement, Sunday School, Bible Study, Home Cells, finance and administration.

The ceremony also recognised reviewed executive committee members and ministry leaders, with plaques, citations and other presentations serving as tokens of appreciation for their contributions.

The programme featured worship, Scripture readings in English and Mfantse, an exhortation, entertainment, award presentations, responses from the retirees, and prayers for the retiring officers and their families.

Family members and relatives who travelled from different parts of the country added a personal dimension to the celebration, while a dinner provided an opportunity for fellowship and interaction among guests.

The event underscored the district’s appreciation of the years of commitment invested by the officers in advancing the work of the church.

Although the retirees are concluding their active service in their respective offices, their contributions remain part of the history and development of the Aboom District and the wider Church of Pentecost.
