The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, has said that the world needs Jesus Christ, God’s only accredited Saviour in order to be saved from the clutches of sin and its repercussions.
He asserted that Jesus Christ is the only One who has the power to save and forgive sin and restore humanity to their original state.
Apostle Kumi-Larbi said this in a sermon on Sunday, December 23, 2018, to climax this year’s Christmas Convention organised by the Michel Camp District at the Kakasunanka No.1 Park in the Ashaiman Area.
Speaking on the topic, “Jesus Christ; The Saviour and Lord of the World” with Isaiah 9:6-7, Luke 2:10-14, John 3:16, and Acts 2:36, as his main texts, the General Secretary explained that humanity drifted away from God’s original purpose of creating them after Adam and Eve disobeyed and sinned against God in the Garden of Eden.
He said that man wandered and did all manner of despicable things to the point of human beings practicing same-sex marriage and changing their gender (transgender) against the will of God.
“In the Garden of Eden God sacked human beings because He could not stay with people with a dead conscience. Today, human beings create sin; they invent ways of doing evil. Human beings have become so depraved such that God had to break His own protocol to come and dwell among humans through Jesus to save the world from unrighteousness,” he added.
The General Secretary noted that God had to intervene by sending Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, to the world to rescue humanity from the bondage of sin, and that whoever accepts Him as their Lord and Saviour receive forgiveness of their sins and are granted eternal life.
He said when the time was due for Christ to be born, the heavenly host could not stand but had to descend in their numbers to the earth to praise God on the announcement of the birth of the Messiah by the angel (Luke 2:8-20).
He said Jesus is both saviour and Lord, and that He has been anointed by God to liberate the world from their sins, heal the sick and reconcile them to God (Luke 4:18-20).
Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, therefore, called on the people to give their lives to Jesus Christ to be saved, saying that no one can help himself/herself out of sin except Christ.
He also said Jesus Christ is the only way to God (John 14:6), and that to see God, one has to accept Christ as his/her Lord and Saviour.
At the end of the word ministration, two persons gave their lives to Jesus Christ.
As part of the service, the members expressed their delight to God through song ministrations, Bible recitals, dance and thanksgiving offering.
Present at the service was the Michel Camp District Minister, Pastor Lawrence Affum. Also present were the wife of the General Secretary, Mrs. Rose Dansoa Kumi-Larbi, Pastor Dr. Amponsah Kufuor (rtd.), and Nana Akomea Budu V (Chief of Atimpoku and Benkumhene of Akwamu Traditional Area).
Others were Mrs. Comfort Antwi (wife of the late Apostle F. E. Antwi), Mrs. Sara Acquaah (wife of the late Apostle Robert Acquaah), and Mrs. Rose Tismark (wife of the late Pastor Tismark).
