The Kasoa Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Ekow Badu Wood, has called on believers to build good Christian homes in their quest to possess the nations through Kingdom values and principles.
Speaking at this year’s November Heads’ Meeting at the Pentecost Convention at Gomoa Fetteh on Thursday, November 15, 2018, on the topic: “The Church and the Christian Home (Possessing the Nations by Possessing the Home),” Apostle Badu Wood said that a good Christian home is the recipe for a good Christian church.
Building a good and strong church, he asserted, is to build a good and strong home, citing 2 Timothy 3:14-16 to support his assertion.
“In transforming society with Kingdom values and principles, the Church must first and foremost transform the local assembly by targeting the home,” he stressed.
Apostle Badu Wood noted that the ‘church at home’ (mini-church at home) should be able to fellowship regularly and more frequently (at least twice a day) than the “church in the temple” which is the local assembly.
“The ‘church at home’ is pivotal in equipping the Church with those Kingdom values and principles that are required in transforming society, uprooting and possessing nations for Christ,” he added.
He pointed out that the Christian home is the channel for the transfer of inter-generational legacies of faith, wealth and a good name (Proverbs 13:22; 22:1).
Interspersing his presentation with personal childhood training, Apostle Badu Wood called on Christian families to pay attention to the Bible by ensuring that their children are trained to memorize the Scriptures and make the Bible the standard for all conduct and behaviour.
He also urged Christians to establish ‘Family altar’ and quite time in an effort to build the mini-church at home.
Touching on a Christian marriage, he explained that an ideal Christian marriage is the one between two born-again and committed believers who recognize Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour, and the one governed by the biblical instructions in Colossians 3:18-21 (Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.)
According to him, the purpose of the Christian marriage is to nurture godly offspring (Malachi 2:15), avoid sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 7:2), mutual help (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12), friendship (Genesis 26:8), use the relationship to develop the Christ-like character in the couples (Proverb 27:17), and to help each other to make it to heaven.
