The Suhum Area of The Church of Pentecost has held financial seminar to equip church leaders on the financial policies of the Church.
The seminar was held at four centres namely, Suhum, Nsawam, Anyinam and Kibi.
In his keynote address at the Suhum zone on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, the Area Head, Apostle Anthony Eghan Kwesi Ekuban, asked church leaders to ensure that the financial policies of the Church are complied with.
The seminar which brought together all District Finance Committee Chairmen, District Financial Secretaries/Clerks, all Presiding Elders and their Local Financial Secretaries was facilitated by the Area Deacon, Elder Samuel Danso.
Among the topics treated are: “Internal Controls in Church Finance,” “Operational Guidelines for Ministers Transfers and Retirements,” “Review of Ministerial Welfare Practices,” and “Budget.” Participants were also introduced to how value books in the Church are used.
Elder Danso explained that internal control in church finance is the integration of the activities, plans, attitudes, policies and efforts, working together to provide reasonable assurance that the church will achieve its mission and vision statements.
“Good internal controls promote orderly, economical, efficient and effective operations of church financial administration,” he stressed.
He identified poor supervision by church leaders, lack of motivation, negligence of duty and self-ambition as some of the limitations to effective internal controls. He entreated church leaders to guard church resources against loss and mismanagement.
Touching on budget, Elder Danso expounded that it is an estimate of income and expenditure for a set period of time. He admonished church leaders to always create spending plan in the utilization of church financial resources.
The seminar was climaxed at Nsawam on Wednesday, April 25, 2018.
