The New Tafo Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Samuel Antwi, has averred that God is glorified and magnified only when He is accorded honour and praise through Jesus Christ.
According to him, any act of worship which is not made through Jesus Christ is detestable to God.
Apostle Antwi made this known in a sermon on Friday, December 21, 2018, when he fellowshipped with members of the Yennyawoso District during the 2018 Christmas convention at the S.D.A School Park, Moshie Zongo, a Muslim community in Kumasi. The event was held under the theme, “We Have Come To Worship Him” (Matthew 2:2).
Speaking on the theme of the convention, Apostle Antwi stressed the need for believers to always acknowledge the greatness and supremacy of God.
“Worship is the food that God consumes because He always inhabits in the praises of His people,” the Area Head stated.
Quoting Philippians 2:11, the Area Head noted that it is not every worship that pleases and glorifies God but the one made through Jesus Christ.
“Don’t be like King Herod whose intention to worship Jesus was diabolical,” he cautioned.
Touching on lessons in the key text, Apostle Antwi explained that Jesus Christ is the King of kings and Lord of lords and His government knows no limit and boundary because it is upon His shoulders and forever established.
“The coming of the wise men all the way from the east to Jerusalem to worship Jesus is an indication that He is the Lord and Saviour for all nations and tribes,” he pointed out.
He stated that Jesus has established His Kingdom in the hearts of believers and that Satan always lives in fear of them just as King Herod was disturbed and troubled at the kingship of Jesus.
He urged believers not to be afraid of Satan and his cohorts for He [God] who is in them is greater than he that is in the world.
Apostle Antwi further admonished believers to abandon their old ways of life and live in accordance to the directions of God.
“The wise men, after they had finished worshiping Jesus were divinely instructed and warned in a dream not to go back to Herod and they departed for their own country by another way. This implies that whoever encounters Jesus Christ has a change of life and lives in line with the direction of God,” he explained.
Apostle Antwi urged believers to continue trusting the Lord Jesus for eternal life which, he said, is the ultimate in the Christian service.
After the sermon, he led the congregation through a period of worship.
Present at the service were Mrs. Mary Antwi (wife of the Area Head), Pastor Charles & Mrs. Gladys Oduro (the District Minister), among others.
