Obuasi Area of The Church of Pentecost, under the leadership of Apostle Martin Seth Appiah, has organized a 5-day gospel crusade under the theme: “Jesus Christ, Lover of the Sinners, the weak and the Sick” (Luke 4:17, Mark 2:17).
The event, which was held from September 26 t0 30, 2018, was organised at 7 zonal centres of the Area, namely; New Edubiase, Asokwa, Brahabebome, Tweapease, Akrokerri, Hia and Bidieso.
Delivering a sermon on the topic: “The Practical Role Of The Church To Continue Christ’s Love For The Sinners, The Weak And The Sick” (James 2:1-26, Ephesians 2:10) to climax the crusade at Bidieso Zone on Sunday, Apostle M.S. Appiah indicated that, while on earth, Jesus Christ often sent His disciples on a practical mission to preach the gospel, heal the sick and free the spiritual captives. He said that it is the duty of the Body of Christ to continue this work of Christ and His disciples in order to thwart the efforts of the evil one.
In his sermon, Apostle noted that sinners could be categorized into two groups, that is, those who are yet to accept Christ into their lives and those who have accepted Him, yet continue to live in sin (1 John 3:6-10, Psalm 50:16-20).
The weak, he explained, are those who are vulnerable without defence such as the poor, orphans, widows, street children, prostitutes, physically challenged etc. The sick, on the other hand, he said are those suffering from physical, emotional or spiritual sicknesses.
The Obuasi Area Head admonished the Body of Christ to pursue the above-mentioned group of people (sinners, the weak and the sick) with the gospel message of Christ Jesus (Matthew 28:18) as Jesus and His disciples did during their time on earth.
He also charged them to preach the unadulterated word (Acts 2: 42), intensify and emphasize on prayer, develop the compassionate attitude of Christ towards these groups of people, offer a helping hand to the needy in the Church, and organise regular health programmes in the Church.
He also advised Christians to bear in mind that on the final day they would be held accountable for the souls they neglect or save to the glory of God (Matthew 25:31-32).
