A ceremony has been held at Nkankama in the Koforidua Effiduase Area of The Church of Pentecost to inaugurate the Nkankama District, which was created during this year’s General Council Meeting.
The service which took place on August 28, 2018, was officiated by the Area Head, Apostle Daniel Yeboah Nsaful. It coincided with the welcome service of the pioneer district minister, Probationary Overseer Stephen Asiamah, and the foundation stone laying ceremony of the district mission. The new district was carved out of the Dominase District.
Apostle Yeboah Nsaful noted that growth is very essential in the life of every living organism. He said entrepreneurs expect their businesses to grow, farmers want their plants to grow, and in the same way the church of God must grow.
“Some years back the church could only be found in some few places, but today the church’s signage can be found in every corner of the world; that is a sign of growth,” he said. He was however quick to caution the church not to be complacent with this, saying, “Even though organisms have lifespans they cannot grow beyond, the growth of the church has no limit hence the song, ‘The church is marching on and the gates of hell shall not prevail.’”
Apostle Yeboah Nsaful reiterated the need to establish more assemblies and districts in the church. This, he said, is in response to the geographical, numerical and spiritual growth of the church.
Earlier in a sermon, the National Head of The Church of Pentecost in Nigeria, Apostle Fening Obiri Yeboah, speaking on the topic: “Church Growth,” said the creation of the new district comes with additional responsibilities.
He recounted struggles that transferred ministers went through some years back, and said, “Things have changed, meaning the church is growing, and that should not make us complacent but rather spur us on to do more.”
Quoting from Acts 2:42-47, Apostle Obiri Yeboah enumerated four things that help a church to grow. These, he said, are: holding on to the undiluted word of God, Christian fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayers.
The ceremony brought together the Area pastorate and their wives, ministers of sister churches, chiefs and opinion leaders from the community, among others.
