The Forestry Worship Centre in the Sunyani Area of the Church of Pentecost has held a retirement and appreciation service in honour of six long-serving officers whose years of faithful service have contributed significantly to the growth and stability of the local assembly.
The service, which took place on Sunday, December 21, 2025, brought together family members, congregants and loved ones to celebrate the dedication and sacrifices of the officers as they officially bowed out of active service. The atmosphere was one of gratitude, reflection and thanksgiving to God for lives spent in committed service.
Those honoured were Elder Ampaabeng Kyeremeh (25 years), Deaconess Elizabeth Agyei (32 years), Deaconess Martha Kyeremeh (25 years), Deaconess Rebecca Appiah (32 years), Deaconess Cecilia Kumi (22 years), and Deaconess Augustina Amponsah, who served the church faithfully for 37 years. The church also recognised three other officers – Elder Daanu Blankson, Elder Peter Kosine and Deaconess Constance Ofori – for their various contributions to the work of the ministry.
Preaching on the theme, “Forsake me not when my strength is spent,” the Resident Minister, Pastor Enock Tawiah Narh, drew inspiration from Psalm 71, urging Christians to continually seek refuge in God, especially in seasons when human strength appears to wane. He commended the retiring and recognised officers for their faithfulness, sacrifice and steadfast commitment to God’s work over the decades.
Addressing the retirees, Pastor Narh noted that although they were stepping aside from active duty, their experience, counsel and spiritual support remained invaluable to the church. “It is a good thing these leaders are being retired today, but it is also a good opportunity for us to draw from their experiences,” he stated, encouraging them to continue relying on God in this new phase of life.
The Area Head of the Sunyani Area, Apostle Abraham Swanzy, also praised the officers for serving with humility and perseverance. He encouraged them to remain steadfast in their Christian walk, assuring them that their labour in the Lord had not been in vain. “The message today reminds us that as humans, we are not made to live forever. One day, we will retire from our work, or better still, we will all meet our Maker,” he said.
The service was marked by prayers, exhortations and presentations, as the church expressed deep appreciation to the officers and wished them God’s continued grace and strength in the years ahead.
