Apostle Assabil Leaves Achimota After Four Years
Despite the early rain showers, members of Achimota Area turned out in their numbers to bid farewell to their outgone Area Head, Apostle Joseph Assabil and his family on Sunday, September 10, 2018, following his ministerial transfer to Takoradi as Area Head. Apostle Joseph Assabil served as Achimota Area Head for four years.
In a special service to farewell the Assabil family, the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye urged Christians to treasure the word of God above all things.
Using Acts 20:32 and Joshua 1:8, among several others, as scripture references, he explained that the Word of God is able to build believers up into full maturity in Christ Jesus and also grant them an inheritance among those who are sanctified.
According to him, applying the Word of God (Bible), which is also referred to as Statutes, Precepts and the Book of the Law, to every sphere of their lives is what God expects of every Christian.
He, therefore, urged Christians to keep God’s word on their lips, meditate on day and night and do everything that is written in it, so that all other things including good health, success, prosperity and the pursuits of this life, will be added to them.
Reading Genesis 12:1-3, Apostle Nyamekye stated that God called Abraham from his kinsmen and sent him out to a new land with nothing but a word of promise. He further explained that Abraham believed in the Word of promise God gave him and acted on it and as a result God fulfilled all that He promised him.
He therefore charged Christians to develop an insatiable desire to read His word, understand His word, apply His word and teach others His word, so that they will be transformed to transform others in society.
He also stressed the need for Christians not to just read the word of God but make conscious efforts to apply it to their lives.
“Any Christian who does not have a Bible is missing out on the promises of God, any Christian who has a Bible but does not read it is also missing out on the promises of God; any Christian who reads the word of God but fails to apply them to his or her life is equally missing out.”
As part of the service, the Area Presbytery, the Women’s Ministry and the Area Pastorate took turns to eulogise the outgone Area Head for his commendable service in the Area for the past four years.
Apostle Assabil was acknowledged for his humility, insightful sermons and undying passion for the things of God, whiles his wife, Mrs. Rebecca Assabil, was acknowledged for her hospitality, passion for evangelism and significant contributions to the growth of the Women’s Ministry.
